How The Hell

Running backs from Virginia State and Louisiana Tech got drafted ahead of him who are barely any bigger. He's big enough to be a third down and change of pace back.

At this point teams are trying to grab guys that they don't think they can get an equivalent of in the free agent market.

I still think Wadley has some unique abilities and someone will get him late.

Welsh is a center conversion project. I think teams will see how that fits into their plans and he will be an early free agent pick.

There are punters and soccer players getting drafted ahead of Wadley. Makes no sense
Maybe Akrum should have played soccer.:)

He would have been a heck of a soccer player with those lateral moves.

But we would have missed a ton of memorable and thrilling Hawkeye moments.

By the way this isn't as far fetched as it might sound. Tavian Banks may have been a better college soccer prospect than football prospect and gave serious consideration to playing college soccer. Unless that was a smoke screen to scare off recruiting competition.

Akrum was an exciting runner for Iowa but his production dropped as the Hawks got into the meat of the schedule and teams figured out how to key on him. Does not look good to NFL scouts. You have to do better to play on Sundays.

Hopefully he’ll get a chance as a free agent.

And to add insult to injury, Justin Jackson gets drafted.

At least Akrum will be able to make a free agent deal now, perhaps with the Patriots or other east coast team.

It didn't help when Brian tried to turn him into the second coming of Mike Alstott.

He has to be utilized in space to be successful on the NCAA or NFL level.

He was the best back available according to some for at least the last round and a half.

Like you correctly said, now he should get a solid free agent shot.

EDIT: perhaps his best game, sans the costly safety, of his senior year was against Penn State which may have been the filet mignon of our schedule.

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Wadley's best NFL prospects lie at the slot. You'd think NFL scouts would see that, but a lot of NFL folks are dipshits.

When it gets to the late seventh round, almost best for the player to sign free agent deal. They can see which teams they have a better chance of making the roster or practice squad.
