how long before Barta is hung out

barta got a nice $5mm check from mediacom. im guessing that the "treatment" by the BTN had as much to do with buttering up mediacom a little bit.

It's more likely because we have been one of the worst teams in the Big Ten. If we were good and people wanted to watch us the BTN would get over the mediacom thing easily.
 
lets face it once Fran starts to get in the dance ad has runs of going sweet 16 and a occasional final 8, lets see what happens if he hangs Fran out again,
and i doubt it won't be that long especially if he make the dance this year and next.
Barta is going to have to do his damnedest to keep Fran Happy
 
More importantly, Fran may dump Iowa/Barta as soon as a good offer comes along and let Barta try to figure things out again. Fran is clearly better at what he does than Barta, a.k.a. I hired Lickliter (Iowa basketball's armageddon), as AD.
 
So let me get this straight, you guys are predicting that Fran is going to accumulate so much power and influence due to all the Big Ten Championships and NCAA Tournament runs that he'll eventually have more influence at the University than his boss?

And because of said influence, if Barta says anything publicly against Fran in the future that Fran is going to have the power to get him fired?

Is that the gist?

Makes perfect sense??

Can't we just except the simplistic nature of what is going on? Fran is new kid, new kids team has sucked for a while, new kid and team have new attitude and are winning a few big games, big ten powers, refs etc..don't necessarily like new kid winning with attitude so new kid gets attitude adjustment speaches, new kid ignores speaches and wins enough not to be new kid....

Gary had to publicly say what he said or Big Ten Powers were going to give him an attitude adjustment speach. I would guess all parties involved were informed of the process prior to its printing.

you don't think the fans have power, take a good hard look at what happened to Alford and Lick.
face it the big money people ponied up the money to get the updates and improvement to Carver and a new practice facilities, you think if Fran gets the BB team back on the map of the BB world, they will allow a AD to hang Fran out like he did.
Lute had the influence to get Carver built, Fran has that ability before him, especially with the FB not having the best season's fans want

Yeah I'm going to go ahead and say that Fran and Barta probably have a better relationship then you all are giving them credit for. I guarantee you Barta told Fran he was going to have to say something since the B10 decided to say something. Its n-o-t-h-i-n-g. If the team is winning then I doubt people will care too much about outbursts here and there.
