How do we get bielema to coach here?

Just for curiousity sake, what is Reese's area and who has he landed? Not disagreeing or questioning in any way.

I like Morgan. I remember when he was at Iowa City West in the early nineties. West was a football cesspool when I went high school (Dubuque Hempstead) The Mustangs, and I looked this up, racked up 58, 40 and 41 points on the Trojans during my high school years. Morgan stopped the bleeding and reversed the losing.

Reese has Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and the Dakotas. He was essentially the sole lead recruiter for Chad Greenway, Drew Ott, Reily Reiff, Brandon Scherff, Brandon Myers, Karl Klug, and Josey Jewell....just to name a few. Beilema had most of the really good Florida guys early on like Colin Cole, Fred Barr, Abdul Hodge, etc.

He recruited Yanda too. Rated the best guard in the NFL by some pretty respectable folk.

Its becoming more apparent every year that Paul Chryst was the reason for Bielemas success at UW. I'll pass on BB coaching at Iowa.

That's debatable. The one constant for Wisconsin has been Barry Alvarez.

BB, Anderson and Chryst have all won at least a division title for Wiscy and Anderson did it when Chryst was at Pitt.

Meanwhile, Chryst did nothing special while he was head coach at Pitt, and since they moved on, both BB and Anderson have been fired from thier post -wisconsin head coaching jobs.

The key is Barry Alvarez. I can't explain why but I am convinced he is the reason Wisconsin is doing so well.

Not sure Chryst was at Pitt long enough to know how successful he would have been there.

As for Wisconsin, I would be willing to bet that Chryst will still be very successful after Barry retires.

When you reply to him it’s his cue to come back.
It’s not like KF could do any better at Arkansas. It takes balls to leave wisky when you’re on top. Kf would never leave his cush job at Iowa where he can have 1 good year every 7 years. Didn’t even want to start the qb that took him to undefeated season with shit play calling

Chris Doyle would have to work overtime however, to turn him into the lean beast he once was. I mean Christ, if you draped a blue and gold tarp over him people would drop off their Poloroid photos. There's a reason why Madison is a world class city for walking, jogging, and bicycling. They sell ice cream and cheese curds on every street corner. Bret didn't quite pay the penance for his sins in regards to his physical appearance.

Would anyone under the age of 35 even remember what a previously mentioned Photomat was? They disappeared about them time movie rental stores did. It's getting to the point where even digital photos are almost obselete..
Funny that Blockbuster went away years ago but in Eastern Iowa they are still building Family's Video stores. By all appearances they seem to be doing just fine as hard as that is to believe.

KF is 43-23 over the last 5 years at Iowa.
Bielema was 29-34

So yeah KF could easily do better in Arkansas.

Barry is as honest as they come. And he started at the very bottom, the type of story you don't hear about very often anymore. When Barry took the HC job in Mason City in 1976 he didn't wait for administrative approval to improve the weigh room. He and his assistant spent their Saturdays knocking out a wall, shoveling it on to a truck bed, and hauling it away. The metal teacher in tech ed welded benches for free weight usage. And school organizations raised the necessary funds. By the next off season Mason City's weight room rivaled a division 1 college. Others schools were using Universal Gyms that you now see in hotel fitness rooms.

Barry tells a story in his book about his experiences going to the Orange Bowl as a player in the 1960's at Nebraska. He had access to all the amenities of South Florida. He and he Pennsylvania buddies on the team instead ended up going to the dog track every night. Years later he's making four figures at his first coaching job in Nebraska eating potluck liver and onions twice a week and raising a family of four in a one bedroom apartment. He's watching the bowl games on TV and telling himself "Alvarez, you have to be the dumbest SOB to ever come down the pike." From that day on, while he demands discipline, he makes sure people enjoy every step of every journey.

My neighbor in the dorms was a student manager in the 1980's when Alvarez was linebackers coach. My neighbors position group as manager was linebackers. He has more Barry Alvarez stories than you have time to listen to. It was at an intramural volleyball game when I found that Barry was leaving. From the manager. He told Brad Quast, who also happened to be at intramurals. Quast's initial reaction was that he was gone. He did stay and finish his career at Iowa. Barry of course became Barry. But Kirk still got the best of him in 2005 when Alvarez coached his final game at the Camp and emotion had to be off the charts.

Hey the guy has a tigerhawk tattoo. I wouldn't mind taking him in if he takes care of his health and is willing to work as a recruiter/ Assistant coach with no specific title. The guy had great drive at one time. The problem is the coodinater positions are taken, could he choke down his pride. Doubtful.

Sums up how I feel about him as well. As unlikable as Bret can be at times, he's still a Hawk, and it shows in the way he reveres Hayden and his days at Iowa.

He has work to do before getting back into coaching though, and I'm not sure I want anything to do with him as a possible HC candidate.
