how do the stars need to align for a regime change?

Oh you mean the Florida team that won the SEC EAST and was widely considered the conference's 2nd best team to Bama - playing the B1G West's 2nd place team that was widely considered the conferences 4th or 5th best team?

Or do you mean Stanford, the PAC 12 champion playing the B1G's 2nd place team?

I think he means the Florida team that pummeled Massachusetts by 17 and North Texas by 32. Iowa did so much better than NT. Missouri did 1 point better on their way to a 4 win rampage in 12 games. Ya that's the team.

So when comparing teams, having the same or better record means nothing.
The same or better ranking means nothing.
What matters is how their record places them w/in their own conferences??
Good to know.

I do seem to remember that about half of Florida's defensive starters didn't play. And their offense was / is just bad.

Well, I mean really - We watched him play hurt for what 25+ games of his career?.. Nearly 2 complete seasons of him hobbling, getting beat up and limping all the over the filed.... and suddenly in the FL bowl game, his last game, in the 4th quarter, we're supposed to say "Woah, that's ENOUGH, he's gonna get seriously injured out there" ... it's such a cop out and a narrative that was driven by one of the color guys comments. Come up with an original thought and instead of just regurgitating some one else's take, look at something objectively through your own lens.

@BEATHARDTEAMS

I wasn't sure before, but this post confirms it. Props for being the most devout of all KF apologists I've come across. You are the Fox News of Iowa Football propaganda, and KF is your buddy Donald. Anyone that watched the bowl game (aside from you and a few other Black & Gold Nationalists) could see that he needed to be removed for his own safety. We all understand that football is a contact sport, but KF should have protected him, since it was obvious his line couldn't.

Come up with your own take. Don't just take others opinions and ram em down peoples throat. Anyone who watched more then 1 Iowa game from 15 -16 saw CJ hobble around the field in every game except for his first 2. So, what changed in the FL game? Why was his safety concern suddenly different then the previous 25+? That one finally put it over the top for ya? He was cleared by himself, the training staff, the coaching staff and his parents. So, not anyone who watched the game except for me... like, most everyone thought he was ok. But a guy who hadn't seen CJ play any other games all seasons says 1 thing.... and you sheep run with it. He didn't look any different then he had in the all the other games. He played hurt for 2 seasons.

Hey, I'm just pointing out that the teams Iowa was playing were considered a rung above what they were. Hard to argue a team that played in the SEC championship game wasn't considered better then Iowa last season.

Point taken. Both teams had been playing minus the SEC title game. Last year the SEC was supposed to be down. The SEC last year minus AL had no clear teams above the others.

Yeah, I agree - But, IMO - in the B1G - who was perceived better? TOSU, WISCI, PSU, MICHIGAN (even though they beat em) ...isn't the Outback typically the SEC 2 or 3 and the B1G 2 or 3? I'd argue that Iowa was the B1G's 5...but they got bumped up because Iowa fans travel.

Look, I got no defense in their bowl record. It's garbage. The drought needs to end and the way they've shown up the past several has been flat out bad. It just, IMO, always seems like Iowa is playing a bowl in which they got elevated up to because they travel.

BTW -This is the nicest thing anyone's said about me on here. Thank you

Okay and Beathard played much of the freaking year of 2015 with a sports hernia that limited his mobility. Where were you on that one calling for Beathard to be removed??? And you probably have not seen it but the 49ers coach was recently quoted as stating Beathard's staying in there in that bowl game and gutting it out helped convince him of the type of player Beathard is. You can google it. It's out there and was recent.

The bowl games outside of the playoff bowls are all participation trophies anyway. Is what it is now. You get excited for the Taxslayer bowl?? They've lost their luster. They should hand everyone a medal and send them home with a pat on the head.

My post was mainly about how the Hawks matched up w/ their opponents.

How does the standard, lame "the bowls don't matter / they're exhibitions" argument apply?

Doesn't apply IMO - Bowl games are still important to a huge portion of the fan base - you can tell by the travel #'s. No one wants to go and watch them get their doors blown off. It needs to change.

My dream is that someday VERY soon, Ferments and Jason Garrett bump into each other in an airport....their flights are both delayed....they go to a bar, have a drink, and chat....both find out that they have a lot in common in regard to being mysteriously bulletproof....fall in love....decide to ditch their flights, rent a car, and just drive....they are both never heard from again. The End.

PS Oh, I forgot and left something equally as important out.....Barta and Brain join up with them a week later....they too, are never heard from again. The End Part II

Here's a fantasy for you (well, at least for everyone else): YOU mysteriously disappear and this board never hears from YOU again. The End Part III
