How could the Bielema to Arkansas move have happened?

I'm thinking money has to be the main thing here. I'm sure he's getting a considerable raise that he didn't think he could get in Wisconsin. Plus he's probably has more money to spend for assistants like you were saying. If I had done what he's done over the past 3 years and my school wouldn't match an offer and I see Ferentz is making nearly 4 million, I'd be mad too.

Well, it's hard to argue with that. He's certainly making enough money to live in a lavish style, sure would be enough for me. But, I think high achievers become high achievers by always looking for more fame and fortune. He must think Arkansas is that. Historicaly, they have certainly been a national power.

From BTN's Rick Pizzo on twitter: "Had discussion w/former #Badgers player last week who told me not 2 be surprised if #bretbielema wasn't in Madison next season"

Makes the 'something fishy' all the more plausible now

Wait, you are in law school? DID YOU CONSULT ME BEFORE MAKING THIS DECISION TO ATTEND BC? I hope like hell you got a giant scholarship or that could turn into the biggest mistake of your life. Sadly, most of your classmates will quickly learn that their only shot of ever being in the game was by doing better on the LSAT.

No, boss, I didn't consult you. I won't let that happen again, haha.

I spent my 1L year at the old U of I, but then my wife took a job in Boston in May 2011, so we moved out here and sent out transfer apps all around town. Got in everywhere but Harvard (because, yeah...). I chose BC over the equally expensive and marginally higher-ranked BU, because of BC's national brand recognition.

I'm 2.5 years in, so I know my life is pretty much ruined. Goosfraba.

Anyone think that Wisconsin will make a run at Paul Rhoads? It might be the perfect time for Alvarez to step down as AD, hire Jamie Pollard as his replacement (he's been rumored to be the AD-in-waiting), and he could bring along Paul Rhoads with him.

Maybe then, the clowns will swing for the fences and try to get Ferentz off our hands!

Well, you found a way to analogize Bielema to Arkansas to your legal career. Congratulations.

Well, thank you. I've been on here for over a year and a half and hadn't mentioned it. Believe me, I don't seek out opportunities to do so. It just seemed particularly apt to what Scorpio was saying.

And I analogized myself to Ferentz (the guy who won't ever go to the SEC or NFL). Trust me, I'm not a d***.

Chryst and Diaco will be very high on their list. Rhoads, probably not. No connections at all there.

He's spoiled the Wisconsin fan base, they want Rose Bowls now and he knows he's not going to be able to get that anymore. Arkansas fans will take second or third place finishes, plus for more money, why the hell wouldn't you go.

He's been quoted as saying his junior/soon to be senior class is the best one he's had since he started in Madison. I don't think he's worried about "not being able to go to Rose Bowls".

They've never known any better. Fan bases become even more irrational once they get a taste of the good life. Wisconsin fans got that, Arkansas fans never have in the SEC.

Sure, I am sure they'll be happy going 8-4 when they're paying their coach 4+ million a year. What fan base wouldn't?

Either way, I am sure Bert is just happy to get away from Urban Meyer. Nick Saban, Les Miles, and Mark Richt will be like a cake walk compared to the steamroller at OSU he just escaped.

Who give's a **** if his best senior class, he's going up against Urban now. That's a battle he's not going to win.

You're cracking me up dude! Keep it up!

Is he doing schtick, though? He can't really be saying:

(Urban + O'Brien + Beckman + Wilson + [Hope's Replacement]) > (Saban + Miles + Mullen + Sumlin + [Ole Miss's Coach])

Right?

It's either schtick, or he's just that stupid. Either way, he's got my attention

I said Arkansas fans are fine with second place, you think they're getting second place in that division with an 8-4 record? LOL

Also he's going to be playing Richt once every six years or so, should have used Sumlin as a better example.

Timing is everything. Bielema just served up the blowout of a career on National TV. And not unlike the fake punt against Iowa 2 years ago... he knows when to go for the kill.
