How could the Bielema to Arkansas move have happened?

I said Arkansas fans are fine with second place, you think they're getting second place in that division with an 8-4 record? LOL

LOLOL! So you're telling me he left Wisconsin because he's scared of Urban Meyer, and instead is going to take over a 4-8 program in a division that currently has three top 10 teams, and has crowned 3 of the last 5 national champions.

But thanks for correcting me. He won't be playing Richt often, so he should be OK.

Taking over a program with a lot of talent coming off of a bad season, sounds like a good time for a new coach to start. Petrino had Arkansas competing in the SEC West just fine. Plus like I said before it's all about fan expectations, and Wisconsin fans now expect conference titles, Arkansas fans don't.

Plus it's about money, it's always about money.

Who give's a **** if his best senior class, he's going up against Urban now. That's a battle he's not going to win.

They've played OSU competitively the past few games and took them to OT this year. I doubt he's trunking to the SEC to "hide". You a foo if you think that's the case.

It was always about money. This "Wisconsin fans now expect titles" thing is pure garbage. What, do you think he was afraid Wisconsin was going to fire him if he didn't produce?

Anyone think he is a SUPER Hawk for life and wasnt getting along with Wisconsin Brass at all throughout the years, and is setting himself up for a possible return to IC once Kirk steps down in the future?

No, boss, I didn't consult you. I won't let that happen again, haha.

I spent my 1L year at the old U of I, but then my wife took a job in Boston in May 2011, so we moved out here and sent out transfer apps all around town. Got in everywhere but Harvard (because, yeah...). I chose BC over the equally expensive and marginally higher-ranked BU, because of BC's national brand recognition.

I'm 2.5 years in, so I know my life is pretty much ruined. Goosfraba.

So where you working next year, brah? Wachtell? Ropes & Gray? Testa Hurwitz? I'm working on a deal opposite the Boston office of Choate now, dudes seem okay but I wouldn't want to work at such a low ranked shop.

I understand this, however, I think it goes along with the raise. It's the KF effect. He's striking while the iron is hot. He knows that Wisconsin could easily be an annual 7-5 team. So why not take the chance when it comes to move to Arkansas where he can get the raise. he's not going to top what he has done at Wisky the last 3 years while still at wisconsin. I think he's reading the tea leaves.

BB's record at Wiscy is 68-24. I don't see them dropping to a 7-4 team annually, too soon.
arKansas is paying him some top dime.

Sure it is. Having a few really good seasons has never raised any fan bases expectations. LOL

Don't know yet. My wife is on residency interviews, and we won't know until March where she'll be moving to. We've lived apart enough, though, so I'm waiting for her to land before I accept anything.

From BTN's Rick Pizzo on twitter: "Had discussion w/former #Badgers player last week who told me not 2 be surprised if #bretbielema wasn't in Madison next season"

Makes the 'something fishy' all the more plausible now
Well reports are that something has been in the works for 2-3 weeks now.

Well if she's at Harvard you guys should be able to punch your ticket anywhere you want. We had a gal here whose husband went to Feinberg and he did his residency at Yale so she could transfer to the NY office and commute in from their estate in Connecticut. The residency thing has some flexibility, so I'd get on finding a job ASAP because you don't want to be left jobless. What are you going to do? Cross border M&A? International litigation? Environmental? If your grades are good (we have a top 10 cutoff at BC) and you guys are looking at Chicago, let me know because I think we came up a body or two short in recruiting this past summer (because they are so stingy with the recruiting budget now - I used to be able to land anyone, but now the competition is getting fierce).

That's not quite our situation, haha. She's already in a prelimiary-year residency program, and she's looking to get into a full program. Once she interviews and ranks the programs, she doesn't get to choose from offers. The programs rank her, and she gets "matched" into one (totally binding).

I'm looking at going into (you'll find this underwhelming, I'm sure, but that's fine) consumer law, perferably in an AG's office Consumer Protection Division. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind doing legal aid or other public interest work. Terrible financial prospects, yes. I absolutely concede that. But student loan forgiveness after ten years in public interest mitigates that.

To avoid totally hijacking the thread: How about teh Biels going to teh r-Kansas? Badgers r teh suck.

Why would Arkansas tolerate any hint of fishiness after what they just went through with Petrino?

I think this might be as simple as "lots more money and wore out his welcome in Madison"

The real question: how many months will they be in Arkansas before Burt's wife realizes he's the football coach there?

I agree, I think Bert is getting out of town ahead of something.
