How big is the Northwestern game?

Fitz gets way more jazzed up about playing us than we do about playing NW; I know that.

This is correct. I've always thought that as well. I think in his eyes he always thought his NW and Iowa were on the same level and in the beginning I think they tried to manufacture a rivalry with Iowa. Just seems that way, anyway.

In terms of the B14, pretty meaningless. With their easy schedule, Wisky is likely to go 9-0. Even IF they lose their 2 toughest games - home vs Iowa and Michigan - they still win the West.

In terms of staying on track for bowl eligibility, it's a little more important. Win it and I'd say it's 50/50 hawks finish 7-5. Lose it and I'd say it's 50/50 Hawks finish 6-6. The biggest benefit from either scenario is a couple extra weeks of practice.

Now, if you're super psyched to go to San Diego over San Francisco or Nashville over New York, then this game is BIG!

Iowa record after bye weeks since 2008

2008. Loss @ILL 27-24
2009 No Bye week
2010 win @Mich 38-28
2011 loss @PSU 13-3,
2012 win @MSU 19-16
2013 loss @OSU 38-28
2013 win Mich 24-21
2014 win Indy 45-29
2014 win NW 48-7
2015 win MD 31-15
2016 loss @PSU 41-14

Overall 6-4.
HOME 4-0
AWAY 2-4

Anytime the hawks play at OSU it is a 95% chance of a loss and backed up by history so throw that one out of your list adn the hawks are 6-3 overall which is pretty damn trending in the right direction. Especially the 4 in a row lately.

how big is it?

How would one measure the size of a game?

length? width? depth? volume? weight? density? linear board feet? Metric or not?

No man can say.

Remember this - Its just Northwestern.

revisit this topic after the maryland game. NW may not be a trophy game but Fitz always brings it like ISU does against Iowa.
