Horrible Officiating in this game, horrible down the stretch

Not the only reason Iowa lost, but certainly did not help. It sure looked like Iowa was going to pull it out when they got up 4, but Dayton came alive again on offense.

I'm glad we battled back though.

That wasn't fun to watch. If there are gonna be that mant whistles I'm not watching basketball this year.

This new officiating style us just ridiculous. It's supposed to make the game faster with more offense and instead it means more ticky tack fouls and free throws.

Iowa lost tonight because their defense sucks, but the officiating is just horrendous

We're a soft team... Everything is jump shots. It's gonna be an up and down year. There will be nights like the Marquette game and really tonight I didn't think we shot bad but nothing came easy.

0 dunks, maybe a handful of lay ups

Not many points in the paint for the Hawks tonight. Dayton is long and quick and that had a lot to do with it. Agree we cannot live on the jump shot alone. We are a much better team with MG at point.

I thought the call on Sapp was complete BS.....he was clearly pushed off to begin with and his strip of the ball was clean. That was the ball game there. And then Woody clearly being pushed out of bounce and no call.

We're just a MUCH better team when Woody isn't on the floor. Sadly, we have to wait for his multiple fouls and bricked layups to actually get him off of the floor.

The call on Clemmons, which was a clean steal, was the difference. Glad to see they battled back, we played a great team on their home court.

Agree I hate it when refs make crucial bs calls and basically decide the game. Mike was fouled, Clemmons had a clean pick, Jok was fouled. Not to mention the out of bounds calls.

I don't agree with this at all. We couldn't stop Dayton at all until Woody came into the game. Wish he played more in 1st half.

I think it could have been much worse had the game not been called like it was. We had no match for Dayton's physicality and our lack of a shot blocker reared its ugly head again. With Olaseni or White, I think Dayton's guards get swatted a few times and don't get to the basket as often. Really poor defense in the first half. I stopped counting after 5 uncontested drives ended in dunks. Big drop off when Gesell is out with our dribble penetration.

Dayton is good team and this will hopefully help with development. Able to rally without getting much from Jok or Uthoff. Nice to see Ellingson hit some clutch shots. Dayton hit every clutch shot down the stretch and we didn't.

If Fran hadn't been gelded.....

By Barta a couple years ago, maybe he could have worked the officials more at the end....it is hard to watch him coach with no emotion. Working the officials was one of the things that i did like about him....it sure isn't his x's and o's ability down the stretch of close games.

Woodbury was shoved on rebound not Jok. That ref under the basket needed to open his eyes.
The look that one official gave Mike after the strip no call said it all. He was just waiting for Mike to complain to T him up. The officiating was horrible inconsistant almost felt personal against Gesell. Thought Jok was bodied on that last shot like previous poster said. I really thought Dayton was allowed to play very tight defense where Iowa was repeatedly called for phantom fouls. Don't know why the basket on Mike's drive was waved off late. I could go on and on but what's the sense. They lost to a good team. Hope to play this team again in the big tournament with a full game from Gesell.

Close games down the stretch in basketball have almost nothing to do with x's and o's. Dayton made a 3 and a crazy contested floater. When a boarderline top 25 team plays another boarderline top 25 team, the game is a coinflip normally. This game was a coinflip. Is anyone really that upset that 4 games in we are proving to be a boarderline top 25 team?

This one hurts because I think we handle Monmouth fairly easily and wind up in the ship.

Instead we now get the Irish.

Its college basketball. Expect refs that are in way over their heads

Reminded me why sometimes I just despise college basketball...

Those officials were F***** big steaming piles. One minute a tap was a foul, next minute a shove wasn't.

They also gave every 50/50 call to Dayton down the stretch.

I wish I could have been there just to rage on them.... would have made me sleep better tonight.

Incompetent.

Bad foul calls, plus 2 out of bounds calls they got wrong in the final 2 minutes. If these refs called the game correctly Iowa wins. There was also a huge disparity in the fouls being called. Way too few against Dayton, they were calling too many ticky tack fouls against Iowa. Just terrible officiating.
