HN Erick All Commitment Story

From what I understand from reading about him is he and his parents kind of lost trust in how the Michigan staff handled his back injury situation and lost trust with them. This before his surgery. He then had surgery which kept him out all this season. He will have 2 yrs of eligibility left as will Lachey. So, we should be pretty strong there going forward.

What a nice safety blanket for a QB having a guy you are familiar with. I like this.

If Iowa is giving out NIL money, wouldn't it cover its investment by checking into the health of a player before signing the offer?

I would think so but don't know. Will ask when I have a chance.

I thought UIowa wasn't allowed to give out NIL, and that it had to be private party admins. It may seem like I'm splitting hares, but I do think there might be some rules (maybe even HIPPAA) in that regard.

All of the Iowa head coaches and some student-athletes attended the press conference introducing the collective during the summer. They certainly are driving recruiting the transfer portal and what goes down in there.

NIL money is given out by the collectives with a wink wink coordination with the program. Iowa gives out no NIL money at this time. HIPPA has no application to private entities like the Collective. They can say anything they want, but why would they?

I suspect the coaches did their due diligence on his back and wink winked to the Collective before the money was doled out.

I would bet they really checked into the diagnoses and consulted with medical staff about what can be expected for a prognosis and progress as far as recovering.

I wonder if McNamara's injury scared some teams off from going for him. I think he'll be fine as trusting the coaches are doing as you state.

yeah rumors are Eric All is not close to being ready to play. Michigan doctors weren't going to clear him to play at Michigan again. He didn't just have a back surgery, it was a spinal surgery. Those kinda things can be tricky. And he went outside of Michigan's medical team to get the surgery and he went against their advice in having the surgery

We have nothing to lose by signing players through the portal. Of course, we want them to get healthy for their sake and of course for what they can do to improve our team. But I can’t see a downside. If they don’t get healthy, or don’t pan out, so it goes. We have a pretty highly rated recruiting class ready to report in 2023. We have a lot of experienced players on our roster. Portal players are frosting on the cake. Let’s get some more.

We've been through 6 consecutive years with Nate Stanley and Spencer Petras under center. I love both of those guys and this is not to disparage them, but this guy's knee would have to be hamburger for his mobility to be worse than what we've seen for the past 6 years. I ain't worried.

The only downside is potential displacement of current players or recruits. Certainly shouldn't be a problem at QB and the TEs are probably not a position we should worry too much about. That kid who was third string TE this year looks like he has the potential to be a baller as well. Him getting relegated down the depth chart and pissed off is probably the only downside.

TE is the one position I don't worry about with the Iowa offense. Unless this guy will be the 2nd coming of Travis Kelce or can play center or guard, he is just a dude to me...one of McNamaras' buds.

Well technically Iowa isn't paying out the $... It's not their loss. They have no more risk involved with that other then the relationship with said collectives. Is there like 1 dude pulling the strings with the collectives or are their like multiple people with 'equal' say in how that stuff goes?

Eric All and his family also have a very convincing side to their story. Just because it's a big time football program doesn't automatically mean it's doctors give the best advice.
