Actually if I look at all of the posts and the in game threads the biggest complaint amongst fans is the continuous running into an 8/9 man front time and time again. That has nothing to do with execution, it's got everything to do with inept play calling, game planning, and stubbornness. Chew on that for bit... JM: Like they were ticked about that in the first half against Nebraska in 2015. 15 rushes for 52 yards in the first half...and they kept swinging at the stacked box and then....Canzeri busts one for 29 and one for 68...and not to mention the natural counter plays they have that look like the same running play but its something else, and only by running those earlier in the game do they work later in the game. Some games, it takes longer...and some times, the play that is set up is a wide open deep shot...that has been overthrown regularly this year.
When AW parrots the word execution over and over and looks disinterested in talking to the media, I think that's an indication of what he thinks. From what I gather, AW was pretty pissed off about the game plan at MSU and the predictable result of such a sophomoric coaching effort.
Last point, execution falls on the coaches. We've had how many hundreds of players come through Iowa and quite a few that go into the NFL and I'm led to believe that the garbage offensive production is because the hundreds of players across numerous years and teams are the problem. Hmmm...only common denominator with all of those players and teams is KF. At some point we should be honest with ourselves -- we know what the problem is. If your players are consistently unable to execute you either need to change the scheme and adapt to your personnel or recruit players that can execute in the system. Dude makes 4.5 mil a year to have his players ready to execute on saturdays. He and his newly hired, inexperienced OC ain't getting it done. JM: Screw it. Fire the guy. Get someone in there that is gonna run a spread offense with lightning fast 6-4 wide receivers and bring in NFL caliber QB's every year, while still producing fantastic offensive lines, get an AJ Epenesa each year....I really don't know why they haven't already done this...because after all, Iowa is an historic football powerhouse with numerous national titles, an ocean right on it's border, a tropical climate that people are just clamoring to move to and live in etc. Good idea!
