It was great to watch the BCS show last night and a lot of talk about Iowa and how they are not out of the picture. I was actullay very surprised to hear so much discussion on them. Things like this will bode well. If Iowa can take acre of business you could look at a lot of the teams left that will lose because they play each other. Does BSU and TCU hit that glass ceiling and we have Bama/Iowa for title? alot has to happen but everyone said last night if Iowa wins out they will sky rocket up the polls. Herby also said in in not so may words that Zona game was a fluke and we shouldn't be as punished as we are getting right now for that loss.

Is there video of that segment anywhere? I missed the show and would like to see it.

But I agree, if the BCS undefeated teams all lose, and both Iowa and 'Bama win out, we've got a serious chance to play the Tide for it all. I'd like to see Boise play in the NCG, but their SOS is going to kill them in the computers, and the computers already have held them back to #3.

For some eery reason, I see the Hawks matching up with Boise St. I don't know why but I do. Whoever BSU plays will be such a high-profile game because many commentators & coaches want to see them go down sec to their schedule. Many eyes would be on the game & it would be interesting & enjoyable to see Iowa take them down with their only loss of the season.

It was a 45 minute show rather than a segment. I think it's replaying tonight on ESPNU in the 9/10 o'clock timeframe. Not positive though. R. Smith and Herbstreit both had the Hawks in their top 10. Craig James and Herbstreit had a pretty interesting discussion regarding why Herbie had the Hawks so high.

I don't want to see that. For as much as we talk about ISU being a lose-lose for us, Boise State really is. We beat them, and we'll have done nothing but prove they don't belong (that's what the national media will be saying), and if we lose.....well then we're just another skin on their wall of overrated teams (again, what the national media will say).

Well tm --

I agree. I really don't want to see that game either. I just have a feeling we are going to get stuck with it. I would rather see the Pack 10 or SEC's best.

If Oregon makes the championship game, the Rose Bowl will probably select Boise State to play the Big Ten representative. Personally, I'm rooting for an Arizona-Iowa rematch in the Rose Bowl.

Iowa continues to be over looked. KF is not flashy, the Hawks dont run it up on anybody. We dont have any heart attack stories, no Heisman candidates, The media darlings still get all the ink and that is fine with me. We take care of business and all of a sudden they will look up and see after the dust settles, there stands Iowa. Someone said in another thread that the Arizona loss has been flushed. Knock off Jons high school buddy "Beils", they are out. Move on to MSU, knock them off, they are out. Dont stub our toe at Evanston or Bloomington and then face off agains't the mighty Bucknuts. OSU might absorb another loss by then if Pryor remains dinged up. Hawks get this thing rolling and they will be like that 18 wheeler, hard to ignore and hard to stop.

#1 tOSU losses. there are 2 big 10 guys and SMU CJ. for all the junk posted before about how SEC PAC10 friendly ESPN is, there were sure alot of big10 teams in the bull pen and moved to top 10 despite what was actual BCS top 10.
They know historically under KF how Iowa improves over season. Iowa just needs to remember they now become "season maker victory" for Indianna and NW. on paper should not even be close but Fitz at NW has always said they aspire to do what Iowa has done in Big10. Iowa will be ready for "Big" games. Evanston and Bloomington will be tougher than think!

Seriously?...

I know we as fans want everything to happen for our team, but you really would not want to see Iowa play Boise State in either the BCS national title game or another BCS game? Have we become so jaded as fans that only games against certain teams are worthy of our attention?

Trust me, if we were matched up with Boise we would get plenty of credit should we win. Boise is good. I don't know if they are one of the best 4-5 teams in the country, but they are good. Defending their offense would be very difficult.

For a long time I've had the feeling that we will be playing Oregon.
... but vs Oklahoma for the title would be more fun!

Regardless, if we can go 11-1, there are only two options and they both kick azz!

Obviously I want to see us play in the Rose Bowl, or for even more. But I don't want to see us play Boise. Beating them won't say as much as beating Oregon or Oklahoma would as far as national perception goes. And while I get that KF doesn't pander to the pundits, I would like to see us win a Rose Bowl or NC and get the full credit for doing so.

If Oregon or Oklahoma win out they are locks. A 1-loss SEC Championship game winner would be next.

Then I think Iowa would get the nod over a 1-loss Oklahoma assuming we win out.

There is no way the coaches poll will allow a Utah/TCU vs. Boise St. title game. They will purposely rank them low enough so this doesn't happen.

A 1-loss Iowa, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Ohio State all would go in front of an undefeated Boise in my opinion.

I'd love to play an Alabama.

If the Hawks pull off the unlikely feat of winning out, then with some help higher up in the rankings, they could have an outside shot. It's a far fetched dream at this point, but it's not completely dead I guess. I'm a Cubs fan, so yes, I know how to harbor unrealistic hope.

I agree that BSU and TCU will not end up higher than 3 or 4. They hit that glass ceiling last year and it will happen again. Remeber last year they beat Oregon which is a much better win than any they have or could have this year on their reseume. You will probably see two 1 loss teams play for the NC title game this year which isn't a far cry for the Hawks if they win out.

I don't think that's what people are saying Dodger, that Boise isn't worthy of our attention. We all realize that Boise has a strong program. They did beat OU in the Fiesta Bowl a few years ago.. They are legit.

I think the thought is that we would rather play a program like 'Bama who is proven in the eyes of the media. Many people aren't sure what to make of Boise, yet. If we play Boise, would we truly be given credit? Or would people say "Yeah, but that was against a WAC team." There will certainly be alot of controversy around Boise if they make it to the title game.

I personally would rather face a household name from a BCS conference. Nobody can make any excuses to cheapen it for us if we win in that scenario.

Iowa beats Florida no credit!
Iowa beats LSU-lucky
Iowa beats Spurrier lead SC who cares!
Iowa stomps Ga Tech no love!
Still cant believe #4 last year. Hawks go undefeated in future still do not see NC game in future. Sched strength, no respect, for whatever reason wont happen!

This is true, and it's a big reason why I despise the current system. It's far to easy to manipulate. Sure, you'd get the same thing in an 8-team playoff. But it's much easier to manipulate it so a team like Boise doesn't get into the top 2 than it is to keep them out of the top 8. Once you get past the top 4 with a team like Boise this year, it becomes blatantly obvious as to what's going on. Keep them in the top 3 or 4 and it can pass for reasonable.

+1

Boise would be a "no-win" situation. Although if we did get there and we did win...well...we'd be NCs. Some how I see us matching up better with BSU in the Rose Bowl, vs in the NC game. not as high profile, Big 10 land, I don't know why.
