Hawks should dominate this Saturday

I predicted 27-13 but I dont think it will look that close. ISU will throw the kitchen sink on defense at the hawks but I see the Oline making enough holes to get some big runs and I see Wadley and Butler catching swing passes in space or downfield to open things up. Butler was wide open a couple of times last week. Fant and the other TEs should find space against blitzing Lbkrs and the wideouts can do damage against man to man. Stanley needs to stay poised as he can make the throws.

With Ragumba rejoining the defense I think they will play very sound. ISU has not ran the ball well on the hawks the last few games and I do not see it happening this year. And look for some more pressure on the ISU qb as passing is the only way they consistently move the ball. Maybe PParker sees if 4 man rush can put a lot of heat on Park or maybe he adds in more more man as an occasional blitzer. Whatever, I remember Parker's words after the 2014 loss that the hawks did not play aggressive enough so I see aggressive on both sides of the ball and a pretty good beat down.

Every year we Iowa fans predict that the hawks will absolutely roll ISU. Far more often than not during the KF era, this has not been the case. I'm done with this September irrational exuberance that we hawk fans give ourselves to.

...... but, dang its great to be a hawkeye

Go Hawks

Agree. Gotta love the optimism, but to predict Iowa to win by a large margin is folly.

( Hawks should dominate this Saturday) Love your confidence and I say we win the game too, but....
as a life long Hawks fan SHOULD doesn't always transition into WILL. Go Hawks!

the operative word in the OP and the majority of years is.... should. Tomorrow is no different.

Kick their azzes

My only concern is turnovers. Our D is great and the LBs are so fast no running QB bs is going to work.

But if Stanley turns it over 3 times again it won't be pretty. I say make it boring and grind out a safe 14-0 game on the ground.

Sub "should" for "could" and I will agree with you. We limit our turnovers to 1 or less and I like our chances.

I think this game is won on the lines and I like Iowas lines a lot better than the clowns. I also believe Iowa will have a pass rush against them and that they will generate ZERO run game.

Unlike most games, though, this game typically isn't one at the LOS....it's typically some crazy, fluke play or series of plays....

1. 2001 - Grant Steen int to seal the win, only to have the ball stripped
2. 2002 - Inexplicable fumbles by Banks
3. 2003 - Two blocked punts by Iowa
4. 2005 - Tate knocks himself silly after int, missing rest of the game
5. 2007 - "Shaggy" hits 5 straight field goals
6. 2008 - Brodell runs back punt
7. 2011 - Steele Janz runs wild
8. 2015 - CJ avoids safety

If this game was won at the LOS, as most football games are, we wouldn't be 9-10 since 1998....unfortunately, this game is marked more by crazy plays that seem to turn the tide.....

If they dominate it will be a good surprise. I am anticipating a close game that has everyone on their seat and on the verge of a heart attack.

this is going to be a huge road test for our qb and wr's. it is a hostile environment. if we do nothing but try to run the ball and throw in obvious situations; we're toast. need to throw early and catch the clowns before all 11 get out of their clown car. need to make their db's mr. krinkle and buttons turn their back to the los. us JB and AW in the backfield, feature jb in the run game and throw a ton of screens, flats and short crossers to AW.

Defense simply needs to hit them so hard it knows their red noses and white face paint off their faces. That'll get the job done.

My son and girlfriend have tickets in the student section, (Their Hawk fans) He has an extra and wanted me to go, I said no way, I wont step into that stadium ever and not in the middle of that s**t show student section!

Why......it's not like you're in danger. They are humans for godsakes.

Iowa should do well this Saturday. If Iowa State goes after Nathan Stanley, that will leave some openings for the running game and the passing game. As we saw last Saturday, Stanley didn't get flustered by the pressure. Hopefully Daniels is fully ready. If ISU doubles Fant, that's going to leave others open.

Defense. I would expect Ragumba to be ready to play after having to sit out and watch last week. Iowa's defensive line will show Iowa State a whole different level of play than what they saw last week.

The key to the game is keeping Iowa State's offense on the bench. If Iowa lets ISU hang around it may come down to who gets the ball last. I think I predicted a squeaker win for Iowa, but a 10 point win wouldn't be a surprise.

The student section at any college football game as an opposing fan is not good....while they may be humans, many certainly don't act like human beings. I've seen instances of people having beer poured on them, spit on, swore at, etc....and in this day and age of increased "tribalism", it's probably not the best idea in the world....
