Hawks Evaluating a Host of Wing Players

I would take the best defender out of the bunch. Hopefully he can shoot it ok aswell. Make the right choice Fran!

Trent Lockett. Wow, he would be perfect! He could transfer in and play immediately and he would be here one year. That would allow us to have those two schollies for 2013-2014.... An athletic wing that can score, rebound and assist. Just what the doctor ordered!

He is from right up the road in Minnesota. Iowa would be a perfect way for him to finish his career close to home and family & friends. He graduates from ASU this summer, too.

Would be great...but ISU is after him but the biggest competition is probably going to be Minnesota...naturally.

Why would he transfer to Iowa or ISU when he wanted to be closer to his mom. He would still be several hours away.

...a couple of hours away is a substantial upgrade from thirty hours away.

Exactly. They could easily see his home games. Players family & friends do that all the time.

As for going to ISU, there is no Royce White. The benefit of going to ISU vanished. They lost their top 3 players, so they will be hurting. Iowa on the other hand is on the upswing, AND Lockett is the exact type of player that is our missing link.... He would be like Darrel Wilson was to Wisconsin football. Trent would put us over the top.

they might lose their best 3 players that played but they have 2 guys that are legit. 1 of those 2 maybe the best player on their team this yr but couldnt play. iowa state may have gotten better. the key with them next yr will be keeping lucious from tearing the team apart. pretty good starting 5 that i see.

lucious - g
babb - g
clybourn (sp?) - g
ejim - f
gibson - f

this is probably a lot more balanced with inside and outside scoring which will make them better. plus with royce the offense had to go through him whether passing or scoring. not the case anymore.

i hope iowa can beat them next yr but they look solid. we will be young they will have experience albeit at other colleges but still very seasoned and talented.

I don't think they are better next year. They lose 53% of their PPG, 40% of their RPG, and 69% of their APG. That is a tall order for any team. I doubt they finish 3rd in the Big12 or better, but they could still make the NCAA's.

Driving me nuts I can't remember the dude's name, but ISU also has the transfer from Utah who will be eligible next year. He was tough at Utah, probably their best player before all of the mass defections took place. Pretty crowded at the guard spot for Lockett to consider ISU with only one year.

Will Clyburn.

After doing some very quick research on the names listed in the article, these are the five guys I hope we go after hardest for that last spot. If we could grab one of these guys I would be thrilled, as they would be an immediate help to our team.

Trent Lockett
Nick Wiggins
Anthony January
Ryan Taylor
Kendal Jennings

Out of this list, besides Lockett, mostly intrigued by Ryan Taylor= 3* 6'5"200lb former Louisville commit out of Hargrave Military Academy in VA described by TOS as good shooter, good rebounder, outstanding strength

Lockett will end up at ISU. And for those that think Royce leaving kills next year's team, I would encourage you to look at what we have coming back. We will be a much better defensive team, Clyburn is very good, we will actually have a PG, and Lockett is proven.

sure. i doubt white and christ would be much more than role players on next year's team. anything less than final 4 should be a letdown for the clowns.

Yes, that was exactly what I said.

There were a lot of "ISU is gonna suck with thugs and a no-experience coach" last year, so I thought I'd try and save Y'all some 'barrassment.

they wouldnt be role players but next years team should be better. i dont think they get lockett. without him i see a solid starting five of:

pg - lucious
sg - babb
sf - clyburn
pf - ejim
c - gibson

much better inside outside balance and the fact that everything wont have to run through 1 player and they should be better. they lose a lot but they fill holes that were there this yr and the holes that are made. clyburn is going to make up for lots that is lost, gibson will be much better, lucious gives a true point. the main problem i see is that lucious could be a cancer but talent wise they are better.

iowa hopefully can play solid but we will be young and they are seasoned with transfer veterans and developing bigs.
