One book has them -7 too. Sounds about right to me. NIU lost their best QB in history and 4 offensive linemen and had an atrocious defense last year.

Iowa State is a home dog to Tulsa. Based on some Iowa State friends I've talked to, this is surprising :). They think they will beat Iowa no problem, so to be a home dog to Tulsa must be awfully hard to take for them.

I hope that means Iowa wins by 7??? I am going to be severely pi$$ed off if we don't win my more than that!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wait... NIU got 2 votes in the preseason poll and Iowa didn't receive any votes. Vegas doesn't know what they are talking about. :)

My clone-bag friends all believe that their triple OT win last year was a totally dominating beatdown of the Hawks that will continue for years to come.
I can't wait for another 35-12 win by UI this year.

-6.5? Are there really that many NIU fans that feel NIU might beat the spread?

We are young with new off coord. I am bracing for a slow start as the players get used to GDs off attack. I don't think we lose but I also don't think we blow them out. We will see.

No - the O must shine big on this day. and Iowa will light up the board. NIU will not compete well playing from behind, unless they look to just stay close.

Either way - Iowa wins by 22!!!!! 6.5/7 is a steal - my lock of the year!!!!

Bet the farm on it!!!

ISU pretty much won the stat sheet by a landslide...over 100 more yards of total offense, +8 first downs, 194 yards rushing...

They were -2 in turnovers and had 11 penalties to Iowa's six. The best team won that day.

The books see this as a neutral field when in all actuality it will be a pro Iowa crowd as always in Chi town.

You say that like turnovers and penalties are random and not under the team's control.

Iowa had several opportunities to win the ISU game last year. The worst was when they had them 3rd and 20 with a couple minutes left and gave up a 40 yard pass.

There was also a 3rd down play where Daniels had Jantz in his grasp and let go as to not slam him to the ground and the whistle wasn't blown. Led to a 1st down.

The only reason the spread isn't higher is because the sportsbooks know full well that favorites tend to pull their starters early in the opening game of the season.

Im no betting expert but i have trouble visioning the hawks getting up by multiple scores and pulling the starters soon enough to allow NIU within one score.
