Hawkeyes Throttle Quincy

Do you read this forum? I don't think anyone here has been predicting more than a run at the tourney, at best. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know...

Plenty of people have predicted tournament. More than a handful. Is your memory that short?

I could have phrased that better. By "run at the tourney" I meant that we would make the tourney. I haven't heard a lot of sweet sixteens out there and certainly no "final fours" as basketballman said.

Which is a reasonable prediction except to people like Ghost who is a contrarian Illni homer.

Sorry hog. No DD here. Just trying to be realistic. I'm as pumped as anybody about Hawkeye Bball this year. But please don't try to convince me we learned anything today playing against such weak competition.

Who is saying we learned anything? Most people are just excited to see this team play finally!

Nobody said anything about final 4, or conference titles. I think you are the only person on here that said anything about those things. All I see is people talking about 6th, 7th, or 8th place in the conference and hopefully a NCAA tournament appearance.

No that's unheard of! No NCAA basketball team has ever finished that high in the B1G!

We did learn something. We learned that this Iowa team is talented enough to come out and hammer a team it should dominate. That hasn't always been the case in past years.

Last year, Iowa beat Chicago St. by 40 in early November, and then lost to Campbell by 16 in late November.

We didn't learn anything.

Damn, I don't want to dog on last year's squad, but that Chicago St. team must of been really bad. Hawks were not a good team at this time last year. Quincy didn't tell us a whole lot about what this team is made of, but I think they're more equipped to take on a Campbell, or similar team, than last year's squad was at this time.

I would be happy with a 20 win season. We won 18 games last year. I think 20 wins is realistic. That would put us in some type of post-season tournament.

I think Gesell is plenty quick enough. Sorry folks, he is better than Cartwright RIGHT NOW. I'm also wondering if you move Marble to the point (get him ready for his position in the NBA) and move Gesell to the off guard. Gesell can really shoot it. That might be an amazing guard court.

Not arguing with you at all, but for whatever reason, I don't see Marble as an NBA PG.

Marble is not quick enough to be an NBA 1, not a good enough shooter to be an NBA 2, and much too thin to be an NBA 3. Add in the fact he couldn't guard my sister last year, and he will have to really, SERIOUSLY improve to be even close to getting a sniff.
