Hawkeyes Lose in France, Pierre Pierce makes Winning Shot

Iowa shoots 24% on 24 3pt attempts while the other teams shoots 38%. Theres your ballgame.

Familiar stats very familiar outcome.

This has just got to change to do better this year, its as simple as that.

While I agree the first thing I thought of before seeing the box score was 'I wonder if Iowa tanked from three', that is going to happen in some games even to good shooting three point teams...Iowa just needs to have this be the exception and not the norm.

Yeah they play with two basketball...........at the same time.

That would make a most interesting game and very frantic.....

So we have been dominating on this trip and lose by two in OT against a team of pros. We have been shooting very well and had a bad shooting night and only lost in OT by two. No reason to toll the bells of doom.....

I will paraphrase here, but somebody else asked this question: Was the opposing team that much better or is Iowa starting to tire from 6 games in 8 days? I believe this is a very valid point. If everybody you face is doing the same thing, it becomes a moot point. But if you're the only one playing that many games and everyone else is just practicing .. waiting for you .. then losing one or two isn't such a big deal.

Just my 2¢ .. ..

GO HAWKS!!!

Better to have loved and lost...

PS - Who cares about PP making the shot. A close game is good for Iowa.

Exactly, get em outta the way when it doesnt count and learn from it. Iowa had a bunch of close losses last year. Get over that hump now and those are wins this year.

Losing one is not a big deal either way.

The FIBA 3-point line is 22.1 feet as opposed to 20 ft 9 inches for the NCAA.

This. NBA players have struggled with distance changes like that (the international line used to be WAY closer than the NBA line, and it adversely affected the U.S. team's outside shooting). It's not that big of a deal, IMO. Wait and see what they do in November.

Agreed but shoots should be able to make shots. Not worried but don't like the percentages that came out of the game. Could easily just be an off night too. No reason to jump off bridge yet.

Who was the last Hawkeye to hit a buzzer beater to win a game? There hasn't been many of them the last decade or so...Luke Recker had one in the BTT..or more than one...maybe Horner had one at Indiana once...but it just doesn't happen all that often.

Alex Thompson in his one shining moment?

Like I said, NBA shooters have struggled with that kind of change in distance before (and that was when they were shooter 3's from a CLOSER distance). I'm not at all worried based on this performance. It happens, especially when you're shooting on a different court.

Let us know when it's time to jump, though. There are several nice bridges around here, and I shall eat a delicious sandwich beforehand.

might as well jump....JUMP! go ahead and jump.

i wonder what Fran's thought was when he realized PP was on the other team?

For some reason I don't think it mattered all that much to Fran. He wasn't here for the fiasco and certainly doesn't want to resurrect it. It is over and dead. I think Fran wants to play anybody, within reason, to give the team even more valuable experience. He is looking to the future not the past. Just my opinion, Meat.....
