Nebraska taught us all something last year when they went to a bowl game with a 5-7 record. Basically, the only way Iowa misses a bowl game is if we have another 2012 season.
So for those folks who like traveling around Christmas time, get ready to take your family somewhere other than Iowa this Holiday season. And take pride in knowing, that our loyal fan base will get us a better bowl than we expect. And Barta Clause . . . I'm sorry, I meant Santa Claus, will be delivering contract bonuses for reaching that bowl game.
I think it's safe to say I just cheered everyone up.
I'm so sick of this "loyal fan base" crap. It's Iowa's "loyal fan base" that keeps supporting mediocre talent and coaching. Nothing will change because of the "loyal fan base"
100% this. Iowa fans keep rewarding mediocrity by purchasing bowl tickets.
I'm way more concerned this year about the band not going. The bowl game they're going to get is a pointless exhibition. The band kids have blown major parts of their break every year going to bowl games. They deserve a year with their families,and Iowa could use the saved money. Hire some high school bank in NYC or Nashville to play and give the band a break.

I really want CJB to go out with a win. As long as we don't play a directional school (Kirk's Kryptonite) I see CJ finishing in style.
At this point the only place I would go that I envision us going are San Diego or Dallas. Dallas only because I can drive up there the afternoon before and drive back to Houston after. Too old to drive back and forth in one day. I went to that game when Houston played Penn State after Joe Pa got fired. Fun and inexpensive(for a bowl game anyway)

Bro, the band wants to go. It gives the boys & girls a chance to have sex in exotic places and record their frivolity with selfies that they will proudly post on their facebook page.

You have a strong point. Our fan base is our salvation . . . and it's a curse. Hawkeye fans suffer from beaten-wife syndrome. When our husbands only beat us once a week, we say, "We're so lucky, he could beat us every other day."
