Guys, it is a 100% certainty Iowa will be in a bowl game

Who really cares. They will get blown the f**k out like they have the last 5 years anyways.

I thought the only reason kNU was considered was because there weren't enough eligible 6 win teams to be selected by all of the bowls? That same scenario isn't guaranteed this year.

This team can still turn things around, but it has to start with the OL and the coaching staff needs to get creative and actively come up with "ways" to allow the OL to succeed. If we just continue to "do what we always do" then turning the season around is harder.

I get what you're saying, but my thought is with the abundance of bowls it's gonna be hard for Iowa to miss a bowl opportunity. I think multiple 5 win teams had an opportunity last year and I was trying to make a point regarding the previous sentence.

It's interesting you mentioned "do what we always do" . . . I felt yesterday was that type of game and yet we pulled it out. A reason for optimism?? Still, I agree with you that our lack of creativity and innovation is a joke considering the contracts Barta has signed.

Yes I believe we will provided we don't lose any more major contributors/key players.

-I think Iowa beats Purdue. Might be another close game (they are coming off an OT win against Illinois), but I think we get the job done.

-Iowa will likely get another win from either at Penn St or at Illinois. Have a chance to win both of these games.

Wisconsin, Michigan, and Nebraska all at home. Kirk's teams usually play up and down to their competition. Something tells me Iowa is going to knock off at least one of these teams. Wisconsin will be coming off a tough stretch of games before they play us. Michigan has played one team with more than two heartbeats (Wisconsin) and and they did not put up video game numbers in that game. Night game at Kinnick....anything can happen. Although I think Nebraska is improved, they have not really played any great team yet. Illinois gave them a game at home and they still have to play at Wisconsin and Ohio St. Iowa can still beat Nebraska.

So, I think Iowa has a great chance at getting to a bowl. The bigger question is can they improve enough to win the West Division?

I think the answer right now is no, but if they beat Purdue and beat Wisconsin, I might start really believing again.

When the conference split into two divisions it was like a gift to Ferentz. The Iowa schedule got a lot easier. I think they will probably beat Purdue and Illinois. Six wins should put them in a bowl. They have proved over the last few years that they can't really compete with a quality team in a bowl. Of course, if they finish six and six the opponent might not be that tough.

If the D continues to imporve, I could see wins over purdue, Illinois and Penn State. That's 7 wins, that's a bowl. Just hope its a good match up - - - for a change.

Nebraska taught us all something last year when they went to a bowl game with a 5-7 record. Basically, the only way Iowa misses a bowl game is if we have another 2012 season.

So for those folks who like traveling around Christmas time, get ready to take your family somewhere other than Iowa this Holiday season. And take pride in knowing, that our loyal fan base will get us a better bowl than we expect. And Barta Clause . . . I'm sorry, I meant Santa Claus, will be delivering contract bonuses for reaching that bowl game.

I think it's safe to say I just cheered everyone up.:D

Rest assured, it will be a bowl in a cold city covered by Beth mowins

This team cannot turn things around... Besides lack of talent, speed, etc.. There is something wrong, no heart, no fire, nothing. They just lay down.. There are going to be some ugly losses left for us this year.

Good news. Our ugliest losses are behind us. You can't get uglier than an FCS loss. Well, unless you schedule a JUCO. Gary, please don't schedule a JUCO.

as of right now with how we are playing, I only see one more win, and that's Purdue.
Yeah, don't count on Purdue for an Iowa win because they run a spread offense. To defend a spread offense, the defense has to have athletic ability and the proper scheme. Iowa's defense doesn't have either. I think Iowa's defense has more of a chance of beating Wisconsin's offense and winning that game than the Purdue game.

Why would anyone care about a 7 win bowl season. A loss would mean 6 losses. Subtract out Rutgers, ISU and MIami, what possible excitement could there be in playing another UMN type team. An over achieving young team? Sure. A veteran squad...No

Not saying anyone would care, just diagnosing what is possible. Not much to cheer about so far. Well the ISU game was fun.

I would care. In fact I've been known to talk some serious smack while watching the Weed-eater Bowl and downing several Fuzzy Navels. And not virgin Fuzzy Navels, the hard stuff.

caddy, I still think it can be turned around. But, it will take this staff thinking outside the box and changing things around and I do find it hard to believe that will happen. This season is at a cross roads. We need to pull out all of the stops. Start using CJ and read option. Start rolling the pocket. Both of those would help an obviously struggling OL and be productive. Defensively, let's just start blitzing; tell king and mabin you're in man coverage all game and put pressure on the opponents.

I would enjoy the option . . .

. . . the option of exposing the cheating refs from the NW game
