Guys how insane am I?????

Would any of these guys even be around by the dates you listed? Snyder could retire at any moment. The Stoops bros. are both on the hot seat. Who knows with Diaco. And BB is getting so big he could literally explode at any moment.

Think wed have a shot at either/both Stoops if they did become available and Kirk...oh wait.....

There will not be anymore FCS schools under big 10 rules starting next year. And playing MAC schools is a crap shoot because many times they can be very good.

Ummmmmmmmm. Flat out wrong. Iowa is playing FCS in its future schedules. And you're like the 10th person to share this falsehood with me. It is inexcusable Kirk continues to schedule a lower division program.

I would like to see the OOC contain one Fry protege school each year.

Fantasy schedule:
K-State 2017
Oklahoma 2018
U of Kentucky 2019
U Conn 2020
Arkansas 2021

BTW, these schools wouldn't replace ISU, they would be in addition to the Clones.

Am I more insane that usual? Or am I at my standard insanity level?

I bet you think this thread is about you....

OK JB, you find a recent news article rescinding Delany's and the BIG 10 AD's rule to not schedule and play FCS teams in FB. The original announcement said this rule would start in 2016 but let teams with contracts keep those games, ala NDSU this year and UNI is still on the hawks schedule in 2018.

I will wait for your prominent link to a news article saying they decided against this new rule. I cant find one and I find many articles still talking about the new rule up to 15 months ago and the rule was announced in 2013 iirc.

I know it sounds crazy but if Iowa dropped down to FCS we could schedule Kansas State more often and still make the playoffs if we beat UNI on the road most years.

To the thread question: It would be nice if Iowa would grow a pair and get some better games before the BIG starts. If they want people to fill the seats get some teams that fans want to see.

The current playoff system is going to drive down the good OOC games. Just look at Washington and the crap OOC schedule they played and they are in. If Penn St. doesn't schedule PItt, they would be in.....If OU doesn't schedule 2 tough OOC games, they are in. Losses in OOC kill teams much more often than a good/decent win lifts them up.

It isn't going to be worth it to these teams to schedule anyone with a pulse. The only way that changes is if we give automatic bids to conference winners. If the system did that one simple thing, it doesn't matter that OU lost 2 in OOC play, they would be in. It doesn't matter that Penn St. dropped an early game to Pitt, they would be in. Schools would schedule tough OOC games to get their teams ready for conference play then. We would get a ton of great games if they would just let conference champs have an auto bid into the playoffs.

Let's do it and eliminate Iowa State. Playing Iowa State is starting to feel like playing teams like ND State or UNI; you get ZERO national respect if you win and tremendous disrespect if you lose. Bottom line, Iowa State, UNI and similar teams should be eliminated from the schedule permanently. Our administration knows this intuitively, but won't eliminate Iowa State because of the political ramifications.

It is heart-warming to see the LACK of Iowa State trolls hanging out right now; they have been thoroughly destroyed and temporarily muzzled by the Hawkeye dominance this year.

deanvogs makes a good point that has been discussed in great detail by the experts on ESPN. Scheduling strong OOC teams only helps IF YOU WIN; if you are in a really tough conference anyway (which Iowa clearly is in), you are better off scheduling beatable teams in your 3 non-conference games and try to beat them. Since we are always going to play Iowa State anyway, that means you schedule two more "winnable" games in addition to Iowa State.

I think that is what Barta is going to do consistently......
