Gundy’s Toast

Agreed. I had to look it up, but Oklahoma State is 4-11 in it’s last 15 games going back to last year. In 2024, they started out 3-0 and lost their last nine games of the season. The only team they have beaten in their last 12 games is UT Martin. Boone Pickens must be rolling over in his grave.

On a sidenote, I remember when Iowa lost to Tulsa in 1996. I was at a Phoenix Coyotes hockey game in America West Arena watching the Iowa game on TV in one of the suites. Iowa was ranked 19th at the time. It was one of the worst losses in the Hayden Fry era.

They were 39 point dogs at Oregon too and I almost bet the hell out of it thinking there’s no way a team like that loses by 39 to anyone. They proceeded to get rolled by 60!

Gundy had that program running really good for a while. With all that Pickens money it’s kind of surprising how far the’ve fallen. I wonder what happened?

Guessing that all the Pickens $$ went to the athletic department and not to NIL coffers. Barta didn't get this either.

His long time defensive coordinator took the job at OSU, now is at PSU. Most of his staff left and he has an entirely new roster. Not surprised what's going on. Not sure he's the kind of guy ya want to work for.

You have to wonder if he makes it to Monday. They've lost something like 12 games in a row. And are probably staring down the barrel at a 0-12 season. Yikes!
OK, I was one day early. Man, tough to fire a guy with all of that equity built up in the program but that's how it is today. What have you done for me lately!

I always thought Gundy was the Big 12s version of KF. Been a round a long time. Generally in the upper half of the conference. Nationally relevant every once in a while, but not consistently. Made the news a few times for off the field stuff, but generally pretty well regarded nationally.

They both have way different styles and approaches though.

I really hope that this is not how KF ends up going out, but most coaches are told to stop coaching, they do not choose to stop coaching.

He was the second longest tenured coach besides KF I believe too. Same thought went through my head about how Gundy went out. I see in his clause they want him to be part of the selection for a new hire.
