GREG STEPHEN HAS ADMITTED TO FILMING PLAYERS NAKED

Thanks for the update. Sounds like he's going to rot away in jail and I'm not sure how much $ he has but he'll be a heck of a lot lighter in the wallet too. Probably not much more could be done to him really. He'll get what he really has coming to him in the next life. At least he's done hurting kids and families now.

He's up Schitt's creek with no paddle now.

15 years minimum. 180 years max. He is pleading out, so I expect it to be closer to 15, but would not be surprised to see him spend the rest of his life behind bars.

He better not ever walk out as a free man again. I don't care if he's in his 90s or not.

Here’s my take...

—If he’s pleading then it means the sentencing range he’s being given will allow him to walk out some day. If not, he’d take his chances with a trial. He’s 42, so I’m guessing his lawyer and the prosecutor probably plan on 20-25 years (the judge ultimately decides). Also remember that there’s no parole on federal sentences, but they do get 15% off for good behavior. So unless he gets into trouble he’ll only serve 85% minus however much he’s already sat in the county jail (I’m too lazy to look but I’m guessing a year?). I’d bet money he’s walking the street in 16-ish years give or take one or two.

—No, I’m not a lawyer and I’ve never been involved with the federal courts in any way good or bad. Take my viewpoint or leave it, but I bet this is what happens.

That sucks if that happens. Him walking free in his late 50s leaves him with a lot of time as a free man of which he does not deserve and the public sure as hell shouldn't have to worry about him being out. The guy is smart and I'm afraid he'd find a way to get himself around kids with access to do things again in some way. He seems like the kind of guy that can play the strait and narrow card for that amount of time in jail and then once free..... I want him locked up long past him being able to even want to do anything anymore let alone being able to.

Maybe the judge will max it out, who knows...

Not sure how the Amateur Athletic Union can be held responsible for this POS's actions. I guess we'll see. The Barnstormers on the other hand.....are finished.

180 years is ephemeral.

Lost innocence is forever.

Ms. Spoerre summed up perfectly the feelings of every parent who trusted their son to play for him.

I'll never forget being at a youth tournament in Hiawatha the weekend the story originally broke. One of our players played for Stephen and several Cedar Rapids and Iowa City barnstormer teammates came to watch him play, wishing that they were out there themselves. Anything that would have occupied their mind. Instead they kind of huddled together like sheep, their eyes in a state of shock. Adult barnstormer assistant coaches were there that day as well. They looked like they had been shot full of Novocaine.

Unfortunately, the feelings of the parent will pale in comparison to the feelings of the child. The emotional harm is far more than lost innocence. Not being argumentative. Just the way it is.

There is no way, just like PSU and MSU that there weren't suspicions or even some level of knowledge. Unfortunately, this is not just new types of stuff. There was significant child porn and sexual abuse network in SE Iowa that was quite large hidden away in a very religious small farming community back in the 60s/70s.

No need to preach to the choir! I'm the poster whose three adopted children saw physical violence, drug abuse, sexual abuse, and more hell before the age of three then any of us need to see in our entire lifetimes. All were born with THC in their systems from their drug addicted mother, just for starters.

Not preaching. I live it from my own past. Glad you are being a great dad to them. Also have 2 adopted kids...same story like yours. One moving into adulthood. Nightmares and flashbacks.

Right on! It's cool when your eighth grade kid decides to try long jumping because the regular kid was injured-and promptly sets the middle school record. Those are the types of memories and accomplishments that perverts like Stephen could never take away.

And he never thought he would enjoy track and field. He came down to earth pretty quickly, however. Ninety minutes later we had zipped over from Dodgeville to Stoughton for AAU practice and you should have seen that coach the first time he blew a defensive assignment....

:)
