Graduate Transfer Offensive Lineman

You can't have too many talented and experienced linemen.
Nope we just lost one the kid from Holstein that was a RS Freshman or sophomore I think. He had a lot of promise but he hurt his back bad enough to where it's forced him to retire from football. He may have been a stud in the making I thought. Really too bad. Had some hype around him when we were recruiting him. But he hadn't played yet. Replacing him with a guy who's played a ton and is good (coming off an injury so we'll just have to see) Could be a great fit I hope.

I’m super high on Britt. I think another offseason with Doyle and another year removed from his ACL injury and he locks down a guard spot. I think he can get up to 300 this offseason.

LT - Jackson 6’6 / 320
LG - Britt 6’5 / 300
C - Linderbaum 6’3 / 290
RG - Kallenberger 6’5 / 295
RT - Cronk 6’5 / 325

Barnwart and Schott as the next guys. Think that could be a very good offensive line group.

And you know Iowa likes to rotate guards, so Shooter and Banwart still get some reps. Both of those guys have had moments.

I am actually pretty high on Plumb, as well. He was listed at 279 this year. He will probably be 290 by next fall. I would love to see them get a few reps as a 3rd TE (ala Wisconsin). I will also consider the season a failure if we do not have an OL score a TD; I am super-pissed that Wisconsin has staked out that corner, we need to get in on that action.

I would say this grad transfer thing is working very well for us. This guys is an absolute beast and could end up at any of four positions through the season. Experienced O Lineman with this much talent don't grow on trees. Great addition.

I know britt is this years Girl with the curl as Deace likes to say. There is zero chance he starts over Schott. Your starting oline is Jackson, linderbaum, schott, probably cronk, and plug and play probably kallenberger or banwart. Ferentz loves Schott. No chance he's beat out barring injury.

Pretty sure Ferentz is very high on Britt as well. He personally recruited him and said a lot of nice things. It made sense to redshirt him this year and I think he had a minor injury.

I’m pretty sure Kallenberger started the bowl game over shooter.

Shooter and Kallenberger. The Paulson's were largely bumped from the rotation.

Interesting take. I disagree because of just what you said. Britt is the next big thing. He was being compared to James Daniels quite a bit before he got too nicked up and they shut him down after the 4th game he'd appeared in. I tend to think if he's healthy and good to go he'll be in there over Schott. But we'll see. I have no preference at all just a guess. It'll be awhile till we find out but should be interesting.

Might there be some other medical condition candidates within the OL besides E. Miller that may have triggered talks with the IU transfer? Thought I remembered a brief comment by Ferentz in the press conference that eluded to something of this nature. He may have just been implying things are always fluid but thought it was OL related.

Never know with this stuff but oftentimes the reason comes out later especially if someone is fighting their way back from an injury. I see IU also accepted an OL grad transfer from Stanford in December prior to Cronk declaring for the portal.

How can a true competitor who loves competition be scared of working hard and competition?
Says no CEO of a big company that tries to squash upstarts and as a last resort throws money at them to buy them out.
