Gopher TE (from Iowa): "'I want to win this pig more than anything'"

Iowa kid who obviously wasn't recruited by the Hawkeyes, and has been a part of the last 3 miserable seasons at Minnesota. They haven't had anything to play for the last 3 years, so I can see a trophy game being big for him.

Seriously, I am concerned about the mental state of this team. There has not seemed to be the burning desire to compete, or the fire to knock someone down and gain the extra yard, all season. The high number of dumb penalties Saturday, and at inopportune times, suggests a team that is disorganized, doesn't have its head in the game, is more or less operating without a team leader at this point.

This team is not playing like winners. How many times have we seen past Iowa teams who have mailed it in, especially at the end of the season? 2007, 2010, 2011 anyone? I fear we are heading there again this year. I am hoping Ferentz has not lost this team. But as JonDMiller wrote, this season is now on the brink.

A win this Saturday would be huge. A loss, on the other hand, devastating.
 
The sad thing about the young Rabe kid, is, my wife of 28 years, is from Iowa Falls, and graduated with this kids dad. Small world....Kick his *** Hawks...ha ha
 
I get the intense rivalry...especially as much as we've embarrassed them on their own field. But the whole "who hates Iowa...we hate Iowa" thing is soooo high school. Always has been.
