I am one for pinching a penny, and I wasn't gonna let this opportunity pass me by, so me and my 16 yr old are off to the rose.

So far, I am flying into vegas on new years eve, got a car rented, and will drive to barstow, CA. (No NYE fun in Vegas, I know). Probably get there at 3AM, crash for a few, then get up early and drive the 3 hours or whatever to Pasadena.

So far, plane tix were $600, car $170, one night hotel, $40.

Haven't got my tix and other accomodations yet, but I think i am doing good so far.

Flying back the 6th, am gonna hang around a few days have some fun. Maybe swing back thru Vegas for the last night before flying back.

$40 hotel aye? yep, sounds like real good times, congrats to you!

Done those a few times in my younger years until I smartened up. Those are the kind that still have the used bar soap in the shower or have that faint smell of urine and who knows what else is in the sheets. I'd recommend taking some kind of bed bug spray or other some disinfectant/bleach water to wipe down with.

Good luck on your trip, though and travel safely! ;)

$40 bucks for a room.

Nah, the $40 is just one night, will spend more for LA. Not a bad place really for 40, look at barstow ca, they are all that cheap pretty much. Travel lodge i think? Gets pretty good reviews.

I just wonder whats the best way to do parking once i get there? Buy one of those parking passes for $30 thats like a mile 1/2 away?

This isn't a lie, bed bugs are an epidemic. Mostly from all the recent un-cleansed Scandinavians were had come here in the last 25 years.

The most expensive hotels don't even regularly wash comforters, so to the motel snobs enjoy your $350 sleep in God knows what.

If you want free nice accommodations take a black light.

JJ, I think you're better off just paying $40 for parking on the golf course than paying $30 and having to schlep to the Rose Bowl from a remote lot.

Best pray for good weather. I saw cheap flights on 31st, but told my wife no way. Imagine flight not taking off until next day. Would miss the game. We are flying to Vegas to but on the 29th. Where you find the cheap car? Ours was almost twice that.

I got a heck of a deal too for my wife and I.

$200 each - Flight one way from KC to LAX
Free - Flight back from LAX to KC using flight miles
Free - Staying at my brother's house in Orange County
$215 each - Rose Bowl Game tickets
$100 each - Rose Parade tickets
$100 each - RV rental to tailgate

$615 each total

"free" flight miles are not free, same price as market. I assume you are eating ice cubes?
