Get...MIles...NOW

So you'd rather have Ferentz at Iowa instead of Miles if you had the choice?

Yeah I would. Miles gets less from his talent overall, and KF has gotten more from his talent overall. Miles just happens to be at a school with 10X greater talent in state and in the surrounding states.

I don't think I overvalue KF really, I think others are over valuing Miles and what he did honestly. Dude was 28-21 at Oklahoma St., so color me unimpressed.

Haha I hope you're a relative of Ferentz.

You obviously don't understand why great coaches get great jobs. You probably would rather have Fran over Roy Williams too because anyone can get talent to North Carolina. Also Miles turned around Oklahoma State which is why LSU wanted him so I don't know why that is unimpressive to you

Just look at why Miles got fired now. His top 5 pre season team has laid an egg... His team has no decent qb on the roster. How in the world can a school recruit the way they have during his 11 yr tenure so rarely have a QB. Messenburger and Russell are the only two good ones (college) I can think of. They were so close to firing him last yr but didn't due to boosters flexing their muscles. Now the guy can coach defense and recruit. Both of those things are very valuable attributes and will get you good jobs. But if you can’t develop qbs and have an offense (especially in the SEC) not to mention have bad clock management over and over that’ll come back to bite you. And it did for him over and over. So now people think putting him at a school like Iowa where he can’t make up the talent gap with his coaching? Seriously a lot of the things Iowa fans harp on KF about would only be magnified with a guy like Miles. Without all the great things that KF has done. So just no no no. I don’t care about how many games he did win. You won’t find one LSU fan that says he won enough. This knee jerk over reaction of an opinion is crazy.

Lol, comparing Roy Williams to Miles?? Haha, Tell your cousin Les Hi for me.

Not really. He wasn't going to ever beat Saban, but his replacement possibly could. Hello Herman.

Great coaches put themselves in great situations like LSU. Not hard to comprehend. Oklahoma State only won 40 games total in the prior 10 years to Miles getting there. 4 wins a season. He won 28 in 4 years. You say Saban only won 59% of his games at Michigan State like it's a bad thing but he took over a mess. 5 straight losing seasons before he got there plus Michigan State had sanctions for recruiting violations that he had to deal with so what Saban and Miles did was actually very impressive. If you think Ferentz is a better coach than Miles you're either related to him or you don't know pay attention to much outside of Iowa football

What do you mean they had a huge victory Saturday. They are #ontheriseagain #astormisbrewing, #alltheycansellishope
Oh your so right! They are on their way to another national championship. Don't know how I missed that! Oh yeah! That's right! It was because their television market is the size of a postage stamp!

Agreed, KF would have won 3 or 4 National Championships with the talent at LSU.

Maybe, but, based on what I've watched the last 15 years, my guess would be zero. Pretty tough to do when he'd be hovering right around a career .500 against the likes of Kentucky, Vandy, Tennessee, Miss State, Arkansas ...

If you don't understand that Miles would have never done at Oklahkma St as what he did at LSU, then we might as well stop now with this discussion. Heck Miles couldn't do at Oklahoma st that Gundy is doing. Different schools have different ceilings.

My opinion is Miles is overrated, and I'd be he underachieved wherever he goes after this.

Who knows what Miles could have done if he stayed at Oklahoma State. His situation at LSU is better than it would have been at Oklahom State if he stayed but he turned the program around and took a better job. Obviously Gundy is doing better because he walked into a much better situation thanks to Miles. Miles might be an overrated coach but he's still better than Ferentz which is pretty clearly to see to someone who pays attention to college football.

Les Miles has clearly done better at LSU than KF has done at Iowa. It is Apples and Oranges.

People bag on KF for 2010 and rightfully so. Just imagine if you pretty much underperformed your talent every year.....well that is Les Miles.

Miles not really ever recruiting quality qbs is as puzzling as Ferentz not really ever recruiting game-breaking receivers.

LSU fans would hang themselves if LSU were to hire Kirk Ferments at the end of the year.

I don't know if you all realize, but Iowa/Kirk are kinda the laughing stock of college football this year. And have been every couple of years dating back to 2006.

Russell, Flynn, Mettenberger were the only good ones I could think of which is unbelievable for how well he recruited other positions

Russell and Flynn were both Saban recruits. And yes its unbelievable how much he struggled recruiting that spot when they got star players at every other position. Part of it could be that he is stubborn (sound familiar). He wanted to be a ground and pound type team. He is a Michigan man after all. And he has refused to change with the times.

And Les Miles would do better at Iowa than Ferentz has done because Les is a better recruiter and a better coach than KF.

Les can't produce up to expectations with elite talent. Les wouldn't get elite talent to Iowa City. Les wouldn't do well at Iowa.

You up for a side bet on good old Les? Seems you think pretty highly of him, and I don't. I say wherever he is the next head man at, he won't improve significantly the team he goes to. Since you think elite coaches get elite players, and then produce with them, one would think you don't have a problem with this type of bet. Lets just track where he lands and go from there.

Evidently he was not winning enough since he got fired.

Since you think he was failure in the winning department . . . and he accomplished far more in that dept. than KF . . . wouldn't that suggest you think KF is a failure?

Is this the part where logic is replaced with a double standard?
