Get a pt. Guard

J.Bo is good as running the offense but is zero threat to drive and finish. Needs to add that aspect to his game. Of course that issue could also be solve with recruiting a juco guy

Williams and Bohannon in the game worked well. Williams gives opposing guards fits defensively. I think the kid could be good with some consistent PT.

I looked this combo too. I cannot remember if we expanded our lead or not when the two played together, but it seemed like we went on a good run with the two. I really liked seeing their play together.
JBo
Williams
Jok
Cook
Kriener

You can mix the bigs around or go smaller with Ellingson in there. That would really spread the floor and open it up for a drive or dish.

Iowa has some very talented young guards. They will play the position well in the following years. I am not worried.

"Liking" and "Replying" to Clinton ... Mr Cynical going with Mr Sunshine ... The pole shift might be under way;)

JoBo is gonna be just fine and, if CW can keep up his focus and intensity, he will become very good. You also have the McCaffery boys coming up.

What this team is suffering from is a BIG who can move like Pemsl, rebound like White and defend like Woody (less the hedging, bad fouls and eye gouges) - better yet, pass like Woody. That sort of interior presence takes SO much pressure off JoBo's limited handles and allows he + Ellingson + Moss (+ C-Mac) to bomb away.

Iowa hasn't had a true post (6'10+ / 250+) that is tough (owns the lane) and talented (12+ points, competent defense, 7+ boards). Garza could become?

I think what actually holds JBo back is that he typically has to play the point for nearly 30 min. a night. He would be better, the team would be better if he played the point maybe 20 min. and could slid to SG for 5-10 Min.

Either way, if Williams can't do that, we absolutely need another PG on the team that can handle 20 min. on the floor and be a significant upgrade defensively over JBo.

I've been saying this all year, JB looks like he is going to be a great shooter but he is not a true point guard. He has no dribble penetration and struggles defensively guarding the opposing PG. Bottom line it comes down to lack of quickness which is not something that can be taught or will develop over time.

This isn't totally true. You can improve your lateral quickness, and you can improve your defense as well. I do agree though, that it can only be improved so much, and I don't think Jordan will ever be anything that someone who is average at best at defense.

JB can't blow past anybody without a pick, lateral quickness won't help that much.

JBo is not the answer at PG. His D against any quick guard is terrible....this isn't going to improve with time. His shot selection is questionable but this will get better as he matures as a player. It's not like the kid is creating offense for other players, he simply has the ball in his hands way too much.

I have been impressed with Williams' D when he gets a chance to play. I'd like to see this guy get more minutes and see what he can do. He is certainly raw offensively but those skills can improve with time.

Not Jordan's best game last night - but I think the Williams/Bohannon combo can work eventually. Some people already have given up on Williams, which is a joke. I mean, some (like 56) basically called him a miss because things haven't clicked for him in his first season receiving meaningful minutes. Kids a sophomore. Let's give some of these guys a season of PT to develop in to players and consistent contributors. Fran has proven he can develop.

Oh, and people giving up on Jordan... well he's one of only 4 players as a Frosh ALL TIME in the B1G to have 60 3 pters and 100+ assists. Daniel Horton, Melo Trimble D Angelo Russell and Jordan Bohannon. Can we stop with "Jordan's not the answer" crap? He's 15 assists from passing Horner's Freshman record. Stop!

Also - I have a lot of good friends who are NCAA hoop fans and I'll get text all the time with how much they love Jordan while watching games. I get it from my Creighton buddy all the time. "Wish we had a kid like that" - I hear from my friend who lives in Nebraska who's a big Husker fan - i get texts like "Jordan Bohannon is the type of tough player our team never gets". Other people recognize his game but then I come on Hawkeyenation tho
