Gary Uses Unacceptable to Describe 7-5....

I can understand people being upset with the mediocre performance of Iowa FB over the past 5 years (and over most of the past 10 years), but people who believe they care more about the success of Iowa FB than a coach whose primary job is to shepherd that program are delusional. None of this is to say Coach Ferentz has done a great job recently, but rather that your musings about his motivations and intentions come off as lunatic ravings.

Everyone wants their pound of flesh from the head coach. They want him to stand up and scream, "I am an awful coach, this was an awful team, and I have a small penis," as if that would make anything better.

Whether people on this board want to admit it or not, these players and this staff have put forth more effort and dedication to try to make this a successful season than most of us have put towards any goal in our lives. After just spending time reflecting on the great efforts of the young men on his team, I can understand his reluctance to say to the media that the team performance was unacceptable. At a macro-level he knows that the recent history of Iowa FB, the amount of experience on the team, and the soft schedule should have produced greater results. But I am sure he cares about his players and fellow coaches, which is why he prefers to say they were all disappointed, as opposed to saying the result was unacceptable (big difference in connotation). If you had a brother, son, or friend on this team, would you want to tell them that they just produced an unacceptable season?

And ultimately it is not the head coach's job to evaluate whether a season is acceptable. That is the AD's job, and he has already spoken his piece. The head coach focuses more micro-level, specifically figuring out what is necessary to make this team better tomorrow than they are today. You are entitled to your opinion of whether or not he can figure out how to make this team substantially better over the coming years (things are not really looking promising on that front right now), but to get bent out of shape because he is not willing to call his season "unacceptable" just seems like a waste of energy.

Your thoughtful maturity has no place here!:mad::mad:

So how can something that has already happened be unacceptable? does that mean that you refuse to acknowledge it happened? I could understand stand saying that I do not approve of a 7-5 record.

i think Im going to tell my boss that Mondays are unacceptable

But "we" want him to throw the players and coaches under the bus publicly so "we" can use that against him as well.
