This Barta quote drives me nuts. He **NEEDS** a championship in every program? How many Big Ten Championships has Barta won in the last 5 years...in ANY sport?

In fact, isn't Iowa at or near the very bottom in recent championships won in the Big Ten?
 
Financial management, P/R, and compliance are the more important measures of success for a P5 AD. Reasonable winning in revenue sports...goes a long way there.

I think a lot of programs would be happy to hire Barta....after they've signed the coaches contracts that is.

There was the Big 10 West championship in 2015. Outside of that, nothing that I'm aware of.

I thought I remember a page awhile back that showed Iowa and Rutgers have the least amount of Big Ten titles since Rutgers joined the Big Ten. Can't remember the exact numbers but it was pretty pathetic.

Same as basketball. Technically the men's and women's basketball, baseball, and softball conference tournaments are only used to determine that particular sport's automatic NCAA post season bid. That's how Iowa got into the CWS. There's no way in hell they would have gotten in otherwise.

It actually makes sense if you think about it. Say the bottom seeded team (which could potentially have a losing record) gets hot and blows through the tournament. That shouldn't negate a much better team's entire season.

We all know $ is the end all be all goal. As long as the right folks are making what they want to be or more everyone is happy. Actually winning would be just a byproduct bonus to be happy about. Like everything in life his actions speak a heck of a lot more than the words that come out of his mouth...

But but but, I thought if you had premium seating you could have a beer or wine.
That's bs. Basically anyone who has attended a game since that's been the deal should file a class action discrimination suit against the U and only ask for the same opportunity and equal treatment.

Completely incorrect. There is the regular season championship and the tournament championship, just like in basketball. The tourney winner gets the auto bid to the NCAA.

All Barta needs is to do is avoid a major scandal and for FM not duplicate what happened last year. Other than that he is probably safe for the foreseeable future.
