Gary Barta: Down to Outback or Holiday

If McCaffery were hurt, sure I wouldn't mind playing Stanford. I think you'd see another PSU type game if we play Stanford. We couldn't handle Barkley, we couldn't handle McCaffery last year, we won't be able to handle him this year.

Maybe. D is playing well now. I like that Stanford is pro-style with a first-year starter at QB. Their defense also isn't as good as last year.

Our D is on a roll playing better than last year, against much better teams.

You pansies saying you don't want tp play Stanford again are the same mongoloids who said last year you'd rather go to the Rose Bowl than get slaughtered in a CFP game.

Man up and grow a pair for god's sake. You're embarrassing yourselves.

MN is going to be music city folks, as the weakest of the 3 teams by far. Nebby and Hawks Duke it out for the other two.

Rose Bowl isn't just the game.
It's the week-long experience that Iowa fans hadn't seen in almost a quarter of a century.

Looking back, I'd rather get blown out at the Rose Bowl than blown out in the CFP, but I'm probably in the minority.

Nope, that was a ton of fun. Would do the Rose Bowl again in a heart beat (maybe not sit through parade again though...)...even though crowd control in and around the stadium was the worst I have ever seen. Once you were in your seat...nothing better in college football.

When the Rose Bowl actually meant something and was the "Granddaddy of them all" maybe, but with the Big 10 championship game and the playoffs now it's just a fart in the wind compared to decades ago. Kind of like the King and Queen of England. Still has all the pomp and circumstance but it doesn't really mean dick anymore.

If a Hawkeye team is good, give me the B1G title game and a shot at the playoffs any day.

For the record...I didn't think we could even potentially jump Nebraska to Outback....bring on Tampa! I really REALLY don't want the Holiday bowl....we just went west last year, we may rematch stanford, Ferentz/Iowa sucks heading west.

Iowa hasn't been to the Holiday Bowl since 1991, and Nebraska was just there in 2014.

Nebraska has never been to the Outback Bowl, and we were just there in 2014.

Iowa will go to the Holiday, and Nebraska will go to the Outback.

That's what I'm afraid of...

Good post except for the either racist or just flat out rude/offensive comment. Really isn't necessary. Chickens would actually work instead of what you said to define those afraid of Stanford. Besides, I love to see the halftime show this time.

IMO playing Stanford would be worst case scenario. A win could spark that gut wrenching feeling that we can beat them now but couldn't in the Rose Bowl and not to mention the fear of how their band would offend us this time (which I think provided more butt hurt than the game itself) and a loss would be absolutely demoralizing knowing we still may not have an answer for Mccaffery.

Beating Stanford in the Holiday Bowl would be as thrilling as beating UNLV in the 1988 NCAA basketball tournament.

Relax bud. Racist and offensive are two different things. I will fully admit to being offensive. If you choose to be hurt by sound waves coming from my mouth or words I type from several states away that's on you.

My brother can't use his left arm and lost his eye because of an accident. I introduce him to people as "my cripple brother Sandy Duncan" because we both think it's hilarious to watch people's reactions when they hear it, and our parents raised us to see sarcasm and humor in the world rather than being victims.

Sorry dude, but regardless of your family, using that term about mentally handicapped is just not nice. Sorry your parents didn't instill more sensitivity. Your experience is not everyone else's. Not everyone is just being sensitive. It is still rude.

I'd be OK seeing Stanford again. It sure would be more interesting than Washington St., IMO. USC would be a problem.

Rob is smart.

I honestly am okay with whoever we play. But getting revenge on either Stanford or USC would be sweet.
