''Fuller excited''

In an interview with Kakert and Dochtermann over the noon hour, Coach Fran said he has talked with all the players one on one now, and that they are all ''excited'' about the future for the Hawks...they specifically asked about Fuller and Fran indicated that he too was ''excited'' ...that is a relief.

Other tidbits:

Fran and family will travel to Indy for the FF weekend, leaving later today.
Fran will breakfast with George Raveling in Indy, and will meet with Mr. Davis soon.
Kenyon Murray has put the word out that he is not interested in coaching, but will be available to promote the Iowa bb progam at functions,ect...to show his support for Fran.
Fran will travel to visit with each new recruit after April 8,when NCAA rules allow it.

Feeling better about the possibility of having Fuller on board.
Nothing is certain, but this sounds positive.

Funny on Murray not being interested in coaching all of a sudden. Just yesterday or Monday he was putting it out there that he was. I assume he and Fran must have had a discussion on assistant coaches.

That's awesome news! Thanks for posting it JHH! Of course, I'd like to hear it from Fuller just to seal the deal...but beggers can't be choosers!

When did he do that 23? I don't remember that, but I only saw a few snipits of KM comments.

Great news. Everyone on board and hopefully another PG w/ the Scholarship & we could have a respectable team in the works.

That is GREAT news on Aaron. He is a very talented player and I think he will blossom with the faster tempo. He appears to be somewhat of a "greyhound" to me. Lean, fast and works hard.

A bit of a disappointment that Kenyon has ruled himself out as far as the staff goes but there are a lot of ex-players out there that would help fill out the staff and work their tails off on the recruiting trail to return Iowa Basketball to its rightful place among the elite in the Big Ten.

And the nation said to Fuller, "let the celebration begin! We shall have a feast in your honor. We shall have the finest meats, wines, and cheeses in the land".

YES! He is the ideal type to play full court D and run on O! Lay-ups will increase dramatically! Also really glad to hear that about KM. We need the Iowa guy on the staff to have active recruiting ties.

What I wish they would do is build some boxes in Carver and let former players have very easy access. Build some nice guest suites upper sections behind the baskets with great viewing monitors. You could also add additional concession booths on the back and it would make the arena louder. I am under the impression that the practice building will include a club area. But it would also be nice to provide VIP's a nice game viewing area.

I am really hoping that Fran can get Jess Settles on board as assistant, Jess has always been one of my all-time favorite Hawks! His grit and work ethic are legendary.
GO HAWKS!!!!

Maybe Fran called him and explained just how much assistant coaches make, then KM looked at his pay stubs from the BTN and said..."Yeeeah...I think I'm gonna have to pass this time Fran!" :p

So you want him as a assistant because he's one of your all-time favorite hawks?? No thanks.

He said he would listen if the call came. He didn't necessarily say he wanted the job, but he definitely didn't say he did not want it.

Shane - I heard or read him saying something like this. I am assuming he heard from someone that he wouldn't be a candidate, just my guess.

I can believe that 23...he probably told them if they need him, he's there and they probably said they've already got some proven guys in mind.

Are we reading a bit too much into this? How was he supposed to respond to this question? No, Fuller is not excited. I simply do not understand how this is at all a guarantee that Fuller will be back this year. Good news? Yes. Determinative? No.
