Fran strategy really lacks at end of games

The play where Pemsl was forced out of bounds and had to heave it back into play for a turnover was ridiculous. He was hammered with a body blow...no call...that was the most blatant foul you can ask for...and we didn't get the call. I'm not complaining about the officiating as to why we lost...we had several chances to win that game...we just didn't make the plays necessary to do so...Period. We had all kinds of chances...jok hits a shot, doesn't turn it over, whatever...you have to make plays at the end to win...we didn't.

You are absolutely right about the foul against Pemsl. That was one of the most blatant bad calls I have ever seen. There is no way three officials missed that one, accidentally. I think that call may have cost Iowa the game.

Fran has a young team. If anything...even when Jok fouled out...even more so. They need guidance. Even his most experienced teams laid eggs at the end of games. I just don't get why he does not try to draw something up for them?.
I agree. Young team so get them a breather and a play. Fran has some great out-if-bounds plays so I'm sure he can draw up a play or two at the end of games.

But this is not on Fran. There were plenty of mistakes and plenty of good plays. Jok had plenty of those. Lob pass into post that he fumbles, dribbling into lane with three bodies that he fumbles, and a stupid pass that had no purpose in getting the ball down the floor that was picked in the OT right before his fifth foul.

They don't have a chance without Jok's 2nd half play, but as the lone senior he cannot make stupid plays like that at the end of games.

Cook is not in at the end of games because Hack-a-Shaq strategy could be uncorked.

Cook is in at end of games until it comes time where the other team has to foul. He's not a bad enough free throw shooter, or a dominant enough player, to intentionally foul at the end of games.
