I don't know what that means.
It's a horrible local show on at the same time as the Jay Mohr show. I was being facetious.

I accidentally turned it on for a few seconds today and felt dirty. Does anyone actually listen to that garbage?

I still think Gessell is our best defensive player at guard... Marble is good at gambling, getting steals ect..
But Marble has to do a lot on offense... eventually he gets worn down and its hard for him to play lock down D for that long and be so active on offense.
Marble typically does what you described, yes. But that's not what he was doing against Stauskas on Saturday, or against Harris. When he locks in, we don't have a better perimeter defender than Marble, IMO. Mike plays it at a high level, too, and he plays it more consistently. But Marble has shown this year that he is willing and able to take his defense to a whole other level when he's matched up with another great player. And when he does that, he's top-notch, IMO.
This is I remember Gessell guarding Staukas a lot also... and the commentators describing how the last few teams that played him had been able to shut him down buy using smaller fast guards (Yogi Ferrell ect) in reference to Gessell guarding him.
The idea that Marble shut down Staukas is not really true... there were multiple people that guarded him including Oglesby.
Mike is a fine defender and perhaps just as good or even better than Marble. However, Mike is limited due to his height. He isn't going to match up against 6'6" Stuaskas or Lavert or even a 6;4" Gary Harris.
Typically Mike will be matched up with the other team's PG which leaves Marble to defend the best wing.
There was a thread before the first Michigan game that we were talking about matchups and I said that Marble should be matched up with Stauskas.
Oh well... rather learn the hard way now than later. Look at Matt Gaten's senior year... he not only lead the team in scoring but he took pride in matching up with the other team's best player.
We need that same intensity and attitude from Marble on both ends.
Didn't Mike guard him most of the first half? They both did a great job taking him out of the game

There were times Mike got switched on him due to screens but I don't believe Mike was ever intentionally matched up with him.
Don't just take my word on it... Fran was on the national radio show giving Dev the credit and talking about the change from game 1 to 2.
Marble got switched off him on a screen when the Dakich made the comment. Now Indiana very well may have used that strategy but Mike was not guarding Stauskas intentionally.
Ogelsby was on Stauskas for about 1 possession and he got burnt back door.
The idea Marble shut him down is true.
I would normally agree with you 100% but 5'8" Yogi Ferrel shut Stauskus down. So I think Mike would do just fine.Mike is a fine defender and perhaps just as good or even better than Marble. Quick interview. Talked about Iowa racking up big wins and thinks Iowa is set to make a March run. Commented on Marble's defense of Stauskas and Fran broke down why he put Marble on him in this game and didn't in the first meeting with Michigan. He didn't waste much time in getting to Fran's ejection and technicals. Jay didn't think Fran touched the ref. Fran was very open about wanting the first T to light a fire under his players but admitted he needs to control himself after he gets one. Fran described how it was different back in the day where you could get in a refs face and it never got personal. Not so much these days. Fran gave the back story on "White Magic" Fran was one of a few white guys in his league playing in Philly. Fran would dribble between his legs, make no look passes and eventually became a fan favorite. A local writer dubbed him "White Magic". His friends back in Philly still refer to him as "Magic".
Seemed like both Marble and Mike guarded him well and most importantly prevented him from getting the ball in a position to shoot the ball. Sometime Staukaus would drive to the basket and have to pass to the corners because Woody and Gabe would step up. The Team D was excellent. Seemed like we knew we were going to win this game no matter what.....
Oglesby was on him for at least 3 or 4 possessions, and i recall each time saying my dad's ear...."i hate that matchup i hate that matchup" over and over until Stauskas either scored immediately when he got the ball or someone switched. Olaseni hedging him to half court off screens and having the ability to recover quickly down low helped.
