The outcome of the NW-Minn game couldn't have turned out worse for the Hawks today. Not only does it move NW down into the NIT, it moves Minnesota up with a comparable, if not better resume than Iowa. IMO, at this point NW, Illinois, and Minnesota all have better chances of making the NIT then Iowa does.
Iowa wins tomorrow and this all changes
It could actually save the NIT money by having it in an NCAA format don't ya think? Have you been to many NIT games. A majority of them have crowds at barely half capacity. That's a lot of resources being used for those kinds of crowds. There are exceptions like Syracuse in 2007. But those crowds are few and far between.
Not to mention, the NCAA is trying to make an effort to legitimize this tournament in a way. I would think having games on a neutral floor would be a good step at doing that.
Maybe I'm rehashing something already said, but the outcome of the NW-Minn game couldn't have turned out worse for the Hawks today. Not only does it move NW down into the NIT, it moves Minnesota up with a comparable, if not better resume than Iowa. IMO, at this point NW, Illinois, and Minnesota all have better chances of making the NIT then Iowa does. Hard to imagine 3 or 4 teams from the B1G in the NIT although stranger things have happened.
Those early wins were over some really bad teams which don't help much either. Iowa's non-conference schedule wasn't very tough.yes, this RPI formula is starting to really hiss me off.
So, the whole season boils down to a bad loss to Campbell back in November?
Other than that, which losses are really bad? Clemson? Winning record team from the ACC? UNI on the road? Nebraska at home? Avenged that loss with a win over there.
We have those 4 great wins over top 25 teams, and those do not outweigh Campbell?
From what I see, after Campbell,we would have had to almost run the table to get back in the top 50? Ridiculous. Go back to the last ten games being important to get the hot teams in the tourny.
