Football/Weddings

i got married on Iowa's bye week. That was the first thing i did was check the schedule for the bye week. Some ISU fans said you are making us miss the ISU's football game and i replied "ISU plays football?"

They don't freakin mix! Quit getting married on Saturdays in the fall. Please! I am going to miss at least 1 maybe 2 games this year. And for those of you that will reply with stuff like "There is more important things in life than football".. well your wrong! football is life.. But hey, congrats on getting hitched people. Have fun paying that alimony in a few years!
That's what DVR's are for. I guess if you wanted to go to those games in person, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

I didn't know you can dvr weddings..... see what I did there?

You invited clownz to your weddin'??:eek:

Pretty much should be an unwritten rule in the state of Iowa ... you don't get married during the football season -- especially during a home game. The bride (or groom) may not care about football but rest assured many of their guests will care.

There are plenty of Saturday's to pick from throughout the year. Not asking to much to not get married during football season ... especially during an Iowa home game ...

And ... chances are in about five years you will be deciding which of the two you will remain friends with after the divorce ...

Fixed.

I got married in July, so no issues for us. I skipped my cousin's wedding last year because they were dumb enough to get married on the day Iowa and Iowa State played. I am also skipping one of my wife's relatives wedding in September since it's a home game. I'm in the doghouse for that one, but I would rather watch Iowa play Central Michigan in Kinnick than be bored at a wedding.

Getting married 9/7/13 here for me. Told the fiance that we couldn't get married on Iowa vs. ISU (she's a clown fan) and she obliged. I'll miss Iowa against Missouri St., big whoop.

I skipped a friends wedding last fall. They should know better...but incase they don't, offer them tickets to a game on their anniversary.

I always tell my friends that football games and weddings are both excuses to get with friends and party it up a bit, so don't waste a day of shenanigans by scheduling them on the same day.

Give me a nice spring or winter wedding when excuses to get silly are a bit more limited.

That being said, my friends usually chicken out and give in to the women. I've had to skip a cousins and good friends ceremony each of the last two years to watch Iowa vs. ISU and will miss an uncles whole wedding for it this year. Sorry folks, check a calendar. Unfortunately I'm in a wedding the day of PSU.

A couple of years ago a cousin of mine got married on the Iowa/ISU game weekend. 90% of their guests were from the state of Iowa. Many of their guests didn't go . I wasn't there but some relatives told me at the reception people were huddled around a small TV they found till the game was over.

If anybody get's married on a Hawkeye saturday, they obviously don't want me there. There's only a few Hawkeye games a year, no way I'm missing one for a damn wedding.

The problem is not with the people that schedule the weddings during football games. They can have their wedding whenever they want to.

The true problem lies with the morons that choose to attend these weddings instead of watching football. They are the real idiots in this situation.

Thankfully, none of my really good friends or family have pulled this crap. I've been to a few when Iowa had away games, and the reception sucked because everyone was watching the game in the bar area. Never understaood it either.
