Football Herky

I liked old football Herky.

Also, did anyone else notice that Herky was brought out onto the field in a Gator instead of being carried out by the cheer leaders on his platform? What gives? That was just stupid!

The kids seem to like him. When he came to muh new section the little rascals (mine included) flocked to him.

Ps Fweak... How's the old section doing?
 
I think its a huge improvement over that Gazoo giant head atrocity they used to call a mascot.

I read posts by people who used to wear the mascot uniform that the old herky was incredibly uncomfortable and even dangerous to wear.

Yeah the kids and adults still wanted to get their picture taken with him.

I moved down down a few rows. The older guy (even older than me) beside me had had his seats for many years. I warned him and the guys behind me that I was a screamer and stander and they were all okay with that. I don't know if the people in front of me are the usual ticket owners or not as there were some UNI fans there.

How was your new seats? You moved north, right? How high?

I'm sure your new neighbors appreciate the fact that you gave the common courtesy heads up before hand that you stand and scream! LOL

My new seats are in the north end zone. Not too bad, as we are in the 5th row. I will say this… Sardines have more breathing room!! And we have seatbacks to help out. There were also a few standers and screamers near me, so that was nice to be by like-minded individuals.
 
Has the university EVER heard of focus groups or simply polling Iowa fans before it makes changes like this? If you are going to change Herky then get input from the fans. Who in the he&& is making these decisions? If you are insistent on making changes then do it right.

There were a few times last year where I had some whiners complain about my standing....and they went even directly behind me! I like to warn them.
 
My god... just one bad decision after another. HERKY was fine...LEAVE HIM THE HELL ALONE.

There's already a movement on sociai media to get rid of the "football HERKY".

A "1" jersey may have made more sense. No?

Maybe they just wanted to use a number that could not be used by a player.

Old Herky was definitely outdated. What was with those weird squiggly eyes and Kermit the Frog triangles?

But, new Herky's helmet is too small. Looks like he has no brain. Needed a happy medium in helmet size.
 
Also, probably should have matched the gold color on the helmet to the actual gold color used on player helmets. That should have been easy.
 
The whole beak with a full mouth of pearly white teeth is just incredibly stupid. Birds don't have teeth.

They don't have hands, either. Nor do they play football.

Most don't wear helmets. Some wear shirts, though.

I think you have to be willing to suspend reality a bit when it comes to mascots. The teeth don't really bother me all that much.

The more that I look at it, the more that I have to agree with you--the shoes are the biggest fail. They look like pillows or something.
 
The old herky was a joke guys...so outdated and moronic looking. He looked like a kindergarten class project with paper machet. He couldn't move and would get his arse kicked by the other mascots because he could move without tipping over. The bobblehead was a joke.

Honestly, I've never been too fond of mascots, but Herky now may be able to mix it up a bit with Bucky Badger and the stupid freaking gopher from Minnesota. I hate that smug little golden gopher. I'd also like to see him finally stand up to the big bully at Michigan State. It's time Sparty took a golden shower from Herky...it could happen now since Herky wouldn't pee all over himself with the huge helmet hanging at this crotch.

There, I said what everyone was thinking.
