Fleck to Minnesota.....I'm gonna go puke now!!!

Yes you dolt, geez you are dense. Those coaches had great records with other coaches players. Fleck won with his players. He took over a horrible WMU program and outrecruited every coach in his league. His teams played tough nonconference schedules and he won. So no, he's not like those other folks.

I notice you didn't take my bet that PJ would never have as good of a 8 year run at Minnesota as KF did here, and that PJ would never have a 15 year run at Minnesota like KF does at Iowa currently.

He is a really good coach and a great motivator and recruiter. Total package. he recruited well to Western Michigan, no reason to think he won't recruit well to Minnesota.

Oh please! Total Package your listening to the wrong station David, lol give me a break!!

I think some of these comments are hilarious, like Minnesota just hired Vince Lombardi..

I am sooooo jelaous....what an awesome hire at a school who certainly does NOT deserve him. Mark my words....Fleck will promise to do things Ferments hasn't uttered in going on 18 years....and he WILL get off his ass and try and recruit. What a shot in the arm this could have been for us. I do NOT see him acting as if the program is at a built in disadvantage. You can't name ONE football program in the entire country that is as stale as Iowa's. Jesus H. Christmas....why can't this be us??? Eat S Barta!!!

Just relax, even if KF had only 5 years left on his contract how it the hell can you fire him and also pay Fleck 4 million a year. The hawks are 20-6 over the last two years. Yes we cant beat speedy teams in bowl games and yes we lost 2-3 winnable games this year.

Unlike some, he prioritizes recruiting and understands it starts with a think big attitude. From the press conference............

“A lot of you will ask me about recruiting. The No. 1 thing in this culture and this program is recruiting. Listen to my words: It is recruiting. And it’s going to take every single person in this room. Media, you have a job to do. You’re going to do it. I promise, I’ll give you a lot. I have a job to do, and I know that. Recruiting is the No. 1 pipeline and lifeline to any program. What does that mean? We are going to recruit our student-athletes every single day with the positivity and energy of the University of Minnesota to think the University of Minnesota is the greatest place on earth. That is what we’re going to do. We’re going to recruit the finest student-athletes in the country, and you know where we’re going to start? Our elite state of Minnesota.”

Fleck will be good, but he's got a very deep hole to dig out of.
Bout right.
Goofs got 9 wins this season, which looks good on paper, but its gotta be the crappiest 9 win team I've ever seen.
Plus more scandal to come. Gopher ascension to power aint happening, folks.

When PJ turns Minny into B1G champs, he's going to have his pick at any jobs available and he's going to pick a school not named Iowa, probably Michigan when Harbaugh goes back to the NFL. :(

And no he shouldn't be compared to Saban. It's just convenient how you failed to include them. True troll material right there.

Holy Shit, was this a serious post? I mean you do realize that Saban coming out of Toledo spent seasons at MSU going 6-5, 6-6, 7-5, 6-6 and then 9-2.......THEN HE FREAKING BOLTED FOR A BETTER JOB.

Urban Meyer went to Utah for 2 seasons, killed it there and then BOLTED FOR A BETTER JOB.

When/if PJ has any success at all at Minnesota, he is gonna jump to a better job, and you gotta be dumber than a box of rocks if you think any different. He will either fall flat, or jump to another job, he isn't going to make Minny good/elite for more than a year, two tops. So I could give two shits less if Minnesota hired the next Saban/Meyer, it isn't going to be a long term bump for Minny.

Trading posts with you is like trading them with a brick wall. Isn't it past your bed time Mary?

You are the dumbass that tried to say that PJ to Minny was like Saban and Meyer. I mean you do realize that the great ones win at a Minnesota, MSU, Utah just enough to jump to the better job. Acting like PJ is going to turn Minnesota into Florida/OSU or Bama is beyond stupid and you should feel like you have run into a brick wall after posting such stupidity.

Slow the roll man!! Wow. You act as if he is the second coming of Nick Saban.
I'm a big believer in good fits and PJ Fleck in my view wouldn't be that fit for Iowa. Iowa is not a PJ Fleck hire!! He can take his unconventional stuff to Gopher land, they like Gimmicks.

My take is this: on the surface a excellent hire for Minnesota, but probably doesn't change a whole heck of a lot in the end. Gophers will still be the Gophers. Not like recruits lncoking down the door to play in Minneapolis! In the end for PJ Fleck he will regret this move to coach the Minnesota Gophers. This issue they have going on right now I would have stayed a MILLION MILES from it..
I don't see Fleck being able to change the culture up in Minny one bit. The situation is not something to take lightly. On the plus side it's not Nebby or ND where national titles are expected, or at least 10-2+ seasons on a regular basis. Best case scenario I say he has degree of a repeat of Kill's success; a number of 8+ win seasons, maybe challenge for the division, and then he's off to the next level.

Very deep hole? Not really.. In the last four years, MInnesota has gone 31-21 (Iowa 35-17 with the "stability" of an established coach)

The PR disaster of the last couple of weeks will fade fast, a new coach = a clean slate. They've got some players suspended (which didn't seem to hurt them in the bowl) and a few may leave...but he can recruit.

They really had one good team (2014), the rest mediocre or worse. MN IS a hole of a job and we'll see if Fleck can dig his way out

IDK if PJ will succeed at Minn. That program is in a state of disarray.

What I do know however is that the argument, one that never held water, that Iowa could never get a better coach than KF is DOA. If Illinois can hire a coach that took a team to the Superbowl and the Golphers can hire PJ Fleck and turn down Les Miles. Then Iowa sure as hell can get a darn good coach if it just tried.

If they had nine wins this year while in a state of disarray then how many will he get them when it is in a better state? If they had nine wins this year, what makes people think they are going to be bad in the future and have to be re-built?

This is not a re-build job. What makes people think he can't hit the ground running?

I understand the limitations of the Goopher job. But over the last four years, we've only won four more games. Reconcile that for me.

You shouldn't have posted this, dean might have a stroke reading it

Yeah I mean they only won nine games this year and a bowl game...what a crappy season. For you KF lovers, their Year would have been awesome had we done it.
