First Team All-Big Ten
Frank Kiminsky - Wisconsin
Sam Dekker - Wisconsin
D'Angelo Russell - Ohio St
Branden Dawson - Michigan St
Dez Wells - Maryland

I didn't realize D'Angelo Russell was grabbing that many boards as a freshman point guard. That is insane. He is nearly averaging what Aaron White is averaging for rebounds.

My First Team -
Frank Kiminsky - Wisconsin
D'Angelo Russell - Ohio State
Yogi Ferrell - Indiana
Brandon Dawson - MSU
Aaron White - Iowa (mostly because I am wearing black and gold sunglasses and my hate of Sam Pecker is strong)

I think Kaminsky and Russell are the two locks, the other guard spot is up for grabs between the two Maryland guys and Ferrell. I think Wisconsin probably deserves two 1st team guys so Decker gets one of the forwards spots, that leaves it up to White and Dawson for that last one. Dawson is a beast on the boards, but White's offensive rating blows him away. White is also the clear number one guy on his team, which you can't say for White. I may be a homer but I'm going with White for the last spot assuming Iowa finishes at least 11-7.

Everyone hates Dekker. Even his parents.

In terms of last year's All-Big Ten teams a few returnees included ...

Frank Kaminsky - 1st Team
Terran Petteway - 1st Team
Yogi Ferrell - 2nd Team
D.J. Newbill - 2nd Team
Sam Dekker - 2nd Team
Aaron White - 3rd Team

Dez Wells was 3rd Team all-conference in the ACC

I don't like to evaluate players on points, rebounds and assists without shooting percentages and turnovers. I'm going based on how the players have looked in the games I have watched. I'm listing 2 guys (1st and 2nd team). Some of these could flip based on the last 3 games.

Kaminsky/Hammons
Dekker/Valentine
White/Dawson
Russell/Trimble
Wells/Newbill

I don't like or dislike Dekker, but he does NOT bring to the Wisconsin team what AW brings to the Hawks. I put AW on the first team, all BT, absolutely.

I hope the voters are smart enough to NOT vote for Newbill or Petteway, unfortunately I don't think they are. Don't get me wrong they're both good players but their points per game are greatly inflated by how many shots per game they take. Newbill averages 5 more points per game than Aaron White but takes 7 more shots. SEVEN.

If you extrapolate that out, if Aaron White took as many shots per game as DJ Newbill, White would average 26.6 points per game. Now obviously that's not realistic because White makes a ton of points at the line, but you get the idea. Newbill is a product of his environment...he shoots a ton because he has to....therefore his points per game are greatly inflated

My 1st team all big ten:

Russell
Trimble
Ferrell
White
Kaminsky

Only 2 players in the Big Ten are in the top ten in both points and rebounds. Frank Kaminsky, and Aaron White. White is also 11th in the league in Steals. To me White is a 1st team all Big Ten player but I'm incredibly bias and actually do some research...something I assume most voters don't do

If White finishes strong and is denied 1st team it would be a shame

Newbill has to be on it. He is a beast

I disagree for the reasons I just stated above. He takes the most shots in the big ten and averages the most points. Does that make him a beast or does it make him a guy who shoots the ball a whole bunch? He also has almost a 1:1 assist to TO ratio. He's really good, no doubt, but he shoots a TON. His team sucks so he's forced to shoot. Is that a 1st team all big ten player? In my opinion, no way.

I love White, but unless he goes absolutely insane these last weeks, they will never put him on the first team. We're Iowa.

I think you pick White over Sam because White is more productive in all 3 categories pts/rebounds/assists.

Do I think White deserves it ... absolutely. That said, I think a Wisconsin team that likely finishes the B1G regular season 16-2 will probably get 2 guys on the first team. If that happens it will be Kaminsky and Dekker. White is absolutely 100% deserving of first team recognition in my book.

So does White make first team ahead of Branden Dawson? Dez Wells? Melo Trimble? D.J. Newbill? Terran Petteway? Yogi Ferrell?

Kaminsky and Russell are locks in my opinion and should be unanimous first-teamers
