First Team All-Big Ten ... who ya got?

Do I think White deserves it ... absolutely. That said, I think a Wisconsin team that likely finishes the B1G regular season 16-2 will probably get 2 guys on the first team. If that happens it will be Kaminsky and Dekker. White is absolutely 100% deserving of first team recognition in my book.

So does White make first team ahead of Branden Dawson? Dez Wells? Melo Trimble? D.J. Newbill? Terran Petteway? Yogi Ferrell?

Kaminsky and Russell are locks in my opinion and should be unanimous first-teamers

Agree, should be an easy vote for those two guys. Any combo of the guys you mentioned could be defended as a 1st team player to round out the group. I would also throw in D Valentine's name up there too for possible 1st team player.

Agreed, I think it comes down to White and Dawson for the other forward spot opposite of Decker. Wells/Trimble/Ferell will fight it out for the other guard.

Kaminsky and Russell are locks. After that, everyone has had bad outings, including Dekker, White, Dez Wells, etc...

I am going to go with who I think SHOULD BE first team, not necessarily who will be.
Kaminsky
Russell
AJ Hammons
Yogi Ferrell
DJ Newbill

Hammons has been on a tear and the Boilers have been on a tear right with him. Dawson went a couple of weeks without being very productive and Purdue is ahead of them in the standings. Fist fight? gimme Dawson all day and twice on Sundays. Purdue is ahead of Sparty and Hammons is the face of that program.

People - if you take DJ Newbill away from PSU, they are ... as bad as Drake. Seriously, he has no one else to help him. He.has.no.help. Zilch. Dez Wells and Trimble are both deserving, but kind of take away from each other. Plus they have each other to lean on. Aaron White, Wells, Dekker, Dawson, Trimble all have a LOT more help than Newbill. Hell, so do Kaminsky and Russell, but they are truly locks.

Pettaway has had a bad year. I think there is plenty of evidence for that.

Having stated my picks, I suspect Dekker WILL be voted on the first team instead of Hammons. Newbill won't make it because his team sucks. I suspect it will be: Kaminsky, Dekker, Dawson, Russell and Ferrell.

Newbill may be the best pro. Just my humble opinion.

I'm not sure how it will play out. As I see it, Russell and Kaminsky are locks. Here's who I think is most deserving up to this point.

Russell - Lock
Farrell - Leads B1G in A/TO, 2nd in APG, & 3rd in 3FG% (3rd in 3FGA)
Dawson - Leads league in RPG, 3rd in EFG%, 3rd in OREB%, & 4th in DREB%
Kaminsky - Lock
Hammons - Leads league in EFG%, True Shooting%, and Block%

I think these last three games are big for Aaron White. If he plays like he has there past two...he probably gets the nod as a first teamer. He's been very very good on both ends of the floor and playing huge at Indiana would be an enormous boost.

Let's face it, White doesn't have the team that Dekker has at Wisconsin. Dekker benefits from everyone trying to guard Special K. If White shoots the three like he has the past few games...and we win three with him averaging close to 20 and 10...I say he deserves it.

Here's to the Ginja Ninja!

A Aron White has made a pretty good case lately.

Let's get 2 more !

Since my last post, I will both agree with the above comment and say if Aaron gets 20+ points and 10+ rebounds in the last 2 games (especially if Iowa wins) that he WILL be on the 1st team.

Waht an incredible game against PSU. not just the 21 points and 14 rebounds, but the steal on that inbounds pass when we were only up 1 with 30 seconds left probably was the difference between winning and losing.

White is making a strong case over the last 5 games to be on the first-team. His first-team status was arguable prior to the last 3 games but now it seems like it would be a travesty if he isn't on the first-team.

At Indiana - 21 pts, 5 rbds, 1 asst
At Purdue - 21 pts, 14 rbds, 1 asst, 1 steal
Illinois - 29 pts, 9 rbds, 2 steals
At Nebraska - 18 pts, 11 rbds, 1 asst, 3 steals
Rutgers - 13 pts, 8 rbds, 3 assts

Averages over last 5 games:
  • 20.4 points
  • 9.4 rebounds
  • 1.2 assists
  • 1.2 steals
