Big picture... We still have 3 shots to go bowling this year which for most was the goal and next year shapes up to be better and like others said is the make or break year.

With that said, if Kirk and GD can't fix this offensive mess we won't win another game this year and next year won't be any better and Kirk will be gone.

Im not saying we don't have issues. CLEARLY we do, but I can keep it in perspective. I expect an average of 8 wins per year, which is still in reach. If we win 2/3 to finish out, what then? We've EXCEEDED expectations then. Win just one more and we've MET expectations. And yes, Ive watched every single game. Which is why I say many of you are idiots.

The teams we have beat have an average of 3 wins.

What happened to Kirk. 10 years ago he was a considerably better coach. Stomp teams you should and atleast hang with teams you shouldn't.

Everyone, including me will be running naked in the streets if we win out. Is it possible, yes. Will it happen 50/50.
If it happens everyone backs away from the ledge. Heck even 7 wins buys the cap'n time.
I think the frustration is there is NO change week to week or half to half. It is like watching a slow motion train wreck.
Just deflating.

Next year will be a season when the ball bounces our way. We will win 8. And the crowd will be pacified. BS. Its time to get into the new century. I want to be excited. I dont mind being able to run the ball. I understand thats an important part of an offense. But when do we take a shot downfield or 7? How about a trick play or 2? What about the read option? Esp. when you have your read option QB in the game?

This is a staff that gets outcoached all the time. Maybe not on the defensive side. I will say PP has them playing well. Despite a terrible pair of safeties. But offensively, we dont adjust. We dont try something out of the box.

And we will probably win 8. Despite the coaching. And KF will be redeemed as a savior. Because he brought them back again and fans get to go to Florida in January.

And if Barta hired a MAC coach at $1 million, he needs to be fired. He justified a $3.7 million a year contract. Spend it on a coach that can coach.

Why expect 8 wins a season? Why wouldnt you expect 10 wins a season? And thats why you love KF. He goes way beyond your expectations when he wins 10 games. That should be the low end. Not the mind blowing fantasy season.
And why should expectations this season be 7 wins? We have a coach who has been here for 15 sesons? And we only expect 7 wins? Thats just wrong.

Starting to sound like Cub fans. Next year, next year. It's not only the wins and losses it's how Iowa loses or just barely wins. They should average 8 wins not just expect 8 wins. Right now OSU is the only team that should be better than Iowa every year.

Yep. The sad part is Wisconsin is pretty vanilla and they don't do anything sexy. They aren't that much more talented than us. But they just walked in and walked back out with OUR trophy with minimal effort and without their best defensive player. Ferentz's contract is a sunk cost and we're stuck with it, but if this basketball team isn't absolutely sick this year, Barta has to be fired. The rest of the athletic department is a pure tire fire.

Sure, the revenue situation looks healthy, but that is all on the loyalty of our fans and Jim Delaney's smoothness in extracting phat cash from cable companies and has NOTHING to do with Barta.

Really tough to disagree.

I'm not to the point of shouting "Fire Ferentz"... Yet... But I am getting pretty darn close. Just that IF Iowa wins 2 of their last 3 and wins a bowl game, it'll end up being a pretty decent bounce back season after what happened last year. So I guess I just want to see this season play out. On the flip side, I've been watching Iowa's dog crap offense for years, and it's not getting better. I ask myself why I think anything is going to change at this point, and I can't come up with any answers.. I'm on the brink, fellas. If Iowa ends up 5-7 this year, I will be with you all screaming for a change. 6-6.. I just don't know. Does 6-6 with a win over a lousy Purdue team change anything as opposed to losing out? Not really.

If we finish 6-6 and go to a bowl, you can't fire him.

We are above average in pre-game planning, but well below average on in-game adjustments.

8 wins would only be good? After today, 8 wins is as likely as winning the lottery 3 times in a row. It would be one of the best in season turn arounds since '08, probably better.
