FIRE FERENTZ

Yep. I went there. Its time. Buy him out. Take the financial hit. I dont care. Suspend soccer for a season to do it. Whatever it takes. DO IT.
This is the most vanilla, unimaginative program in the nation. It is boring. It is unproductive.
I wont bring up money, I wont bring up past success. College football is :What have you done lately?" And it hasnt been much.
I dont care if takes 2 seasons for a new coach to get "his" guys in theprogram and we will lose.

I want someone who can recruit and develop. Sure KF can do that. But I want a coach that can recruit 4* and 5* guys and develop.

I dont want to here "You cant recruit at Iowa" Thats BS. You can too.

"Oh, who will we hire?" IS a question some of you will throw out. There a lot of imaginative coaches out there. And Iowa has shown they will pay their coach and support him and give him a weak press corp and above average facilities. I think a lot of coaches would come to Iowa.

Its stale and its time for change.

The money is already spent. They owe Ferentz 75% of his salary through 2020 unless he is fired for cause, which will not happen.

He's gonna get 2014. IMO, next year is make or break.

Jon what would you say is the magic number for Ferentz next year to be safe? 7 or above? 8 or 9 wins? The schedule should set up for it.

Yep. The sad part is Wisconsin is pretty vanilla and they don't do anything sexy. They aren't that much more talented than us. But they just walked in and walked back out with OUR trophy with minimal effort and without their best defensive player. Ferentz's contract is a sunk cost and we're stuck with it, but if this basketball team isn't absolutely sick this year, Barta has to be fired. The rest of the athletic department is a pure tire fire.

Sure, the revenue situation looks healthy, but that is all on the loyalty of our fans and Jim Delaney's smoothness in extracting phat cash from cable companies and has NOTHING to do with Barta.

Iowa is pretty boring to watch. Kinda like bb under Lick. But to watch Barta fire Kirk and pony up 1 million a year to some MAC coach isn't very appealing to watch either.

I agree with others that next year is the make or break season for KF. If he can't win a lot of games playing a schedule in which Iowa will be better--on paper--than the first 10 teams they play, it'll be time to make a change.

He's gotta be awesome. The problem is if we don't have a decent class this year and a good season and class next year, we have a good chance of hitting a downward spiral, similar to what Illinois and Purdue have seen due to constant coaching uncertainty. I'm sick to my stomach right now.

OK4Prez-Unprecedented your posts are spot on today

Yeah this train has run to the end of the line. It's on life support. That offense has done nothing but go downhill almost every week.

Agreed. Look, I fully expected us to lose today so the loss isn't the end of the world. But the way we lost is just sickening. We lose that game 28-24, I ain't mad. But hell, when the defense comes out breathing fire like that and Phil Parker had the schemes dialed in and the offense lays that type of an egg, I just can't take it. If we had gotten anything out of the offense, we win that game 17 or 20 to 14.

The idiots are out in full force today...We have lost to the #1,#6, defense in the nation, the $4 team in the nation, and another undefeated team....Use your brains people. Im not happy about it either, but ive got some perspective at least!

Your perspective it would seem is resignation to mediocrity.

I honestly think most fans had fairly low expectations going into this game and so the L isn't the issue. The issue is the tire fire on the offensive side of the ball. This defense has far surpassed my expectations, but the offense is among the worst ever rolled onto a field.

'Cats again taking it to the Blackshirts. Give Phil Parker a giant raise. The guy is a master.

1. Do you watch the games, or just check the final score? Answer unknown. but if so...

2. Do you know enough about football to understand what you're seeing? Clearly not

Had enough. Pure and simple, can't really explain or justify that. And, tired of hearing all the justifications for the state of the program, because they have all been used up since 2009. Though his words say otherwise, he seems secure in losing. I hope he resigns after this year, somehow, someway.
