Ferentz to Philadelphia??

------He may want to go out on top

Um, the top is winning a National Championship....not a Rose Bowl.

The Philly media would eat KF up the first time he bristled at them....I can't think of a worse match. I give it a -1000% chance of happening.

Boy I really hate to start a thread about this but here it goes. Philly recently abruptly let Chip Kelly go. Is there any way at this point that Ferentz could possibly end up in Philly? Does Philly have a hire in mind the way it went down?

The only reason I entertain this is that in the past, Ferentz wanted his boys to play & graduate from Iowa. He had reasons to stay then in recent years had a downturn so didn't get many overtures from the NFL. Do you think he still has any interest at all coaching in the NFL at his age now? If he does, with the success of this year, he may think this could be his last and only chance.

The reason Philly is so intriguing is that it is his home state and has two NFL teams. He has stated in the past that he would need the perfect situation. I don't know. But when Philly let Kelly go it just made me think. Letting him go the week of the major bowl games so they could possibly have a coach in mind after the games this week. I'm not even sure they would even go the college coach route, but Ferentz is unique with his NFL experience, especially under Belichek.

OK. You may blast me now with the proverbial "Here we go again thread...."!!:p

I doubt that KF is heading anywhere. that ship has sailed. Brian Ferentz was recently interviewed in the Press - Citizen and they even addressed the rumors of BF taking over HC when KF was done. He said that he thinks KF has no plans to leave any time soon.

Anyone who thinks Kurt would leave his sweet setup at Iowa for that dumpster fire in Philthyderpia is probably the kind of person who thinks another American ground invasion in the Middle East is an idea worth exploring.

The Moron Quotient in this thread, I swear.

Yes, KF grew up in Pennsylvania. The "Pittsburgh side", NOT the "Philly side".

IF any NFL smoke starts swirling in the offseason, he can GTFO! Went through that b.s. 10 years ago. His coyness with the fans and allowing those perpetual rumors to fester because he dodged addressing them up front was just one of many reasons I could've cared less if he left anytime over the last decade.

This has been an awesome season. KF deserves his share of credit for making some strategical, philisophical and personnel changes to put his team in the best situation to compete but I'm not ready to drop to my knees in praise of him as the end-all / be-all to Iowa football.

He's finally doing things that should have been done in some form or another in each of the last 5 - 7 years. But let's grab some reality here, this year is an anomaly and between the tougher schedules and developmental players, Iowa probably won't sniff this level of success again under KF.

I accept that. As for KF's rededication efforts, I'm okay if he finishes his contract, as long as he sustains this type of play-to-win attitude and continues to meet competitive expectations. However, the last thing that needs to happen is that "disconnected entitlement" personna to reappear after 1 great season, where, for the most part, his team simply met expectations by beating who they should've beaten all along.

. I had the same thought go through my head. I agree with Melrose Hawkins, about Ferentz maybe retiring at Iowa since he's got so much of his family living in Iowa now. But if I was to put a % on it, I'm thinking %35 With Ferentz getting on the back end of his coaching career, I really think he would entertain a offer. Everyone knows that he's always had interest in being a head coach in the NFL. I just wonder if the Eagles were really interested in him, if they would offer better $ than he makes at Iowa.
