Ferentz Supporters Enter Here

I am a supporter because I can look at the overall picture.

In total wins he is #2 in history with 112. Only behind Hayden Fry with 143.
In winning % he is #7 in history with 59%. Behind A.E. Bull 83%, John Chalmers 75%, Howard Jones 71%, Alden Knipe 71%, Forest Evyshevski 65%, and Hayden Fry at 61%.
His winning % is also 7% higher than the over all historical winning percentage 52%.
He outperforms historical averages.

Yeah to me however it's pretty much WAS rather than IS... Most of this man's great success came in a small window in the early 2002-2004 era.

Outside of one year (2009) he is about 47-42 the rest of those years.

He hasn't been able to get the same results he did nearly 10 years ago... and even then it was pretty boring football.

It's never going to be what it was as far as the ceiling with him - It's okay - He got the job done but its just not there anymore.

I am a Hawkeye fan. I support Kirk Ferentz. As long as Greg Davis is our OC, I support him, too. I disagree with him, but I support him until he is no longer OC.

I hate the way the team is being coached right now, and our game plan totally sucks. But while sitting 1000 miles away in my chair, watching the games on TV, I have no input whatsoever on who coaches the team. I can have my opinions, but who cares? Until the current coaches are no longer our coaches, I'll support them. Then, I'll support the new coaches. I'll leave the whining and complaining to you really cool guys and gals, since you do such a fantastic job. Plus, I just don't have the super cool phrases, names and words that you guys use. Man, you guys are awesome!

I have never understood the argument to throw out a years worth of results.

That is stupid.

I agree, but it could make sense if you throw out bad outliers as well. If you are trying to i.d. a trend it's reasonable to rid the highs and the lows.

Haven't looked at the numbers, but I would guess over the last 10 years we're hovering a little over .500 no matter how you slice the data.

As far as the OP… I don't know, but don't binary me, bro. I'm throwing out confidence levels instead.

I'm 0.01% confident that we can have any major success with KF and GD running his horizontal offense here.
I'm 10% confident that we can have any major success with KF and GD if he abandons his primary schemes and goes back to the KOK style.
I'm 30% confident that we can have any major success with KF no matter.
I'm 100% confident that I will cheer for the Hawks to win every game they play no matter who coaches them. (Though I'll not be spending much time and money on the games for the foreseeable future, nor will I watch on live TV anymore. Too much to do; Dolph and Eddie can be my partners whilst I get stuff done 'round the home.)

You disagree with somebody, but you support him?

What exactly does that mean?

What would not supporting him look like to you?

Anyone who doesn't support KF can email me your place of employment and I will show up with a crowbar to defend his honor and coaching ability.

Alright, I've got 6 names to add to my block list. I would say this was a successful idea.

If you spend any $ on Iowa football, whether you like it or not you support Kirk Ferentz. If people truly want him gone, don't show up to Kinnick and spend money outside or inside the stadium. The lowest official Kinnick attendance numbers in the KF era were Minnesota 1999 and Northwestern 2000 at roughly 55,000. I was in the stadium for the Minnesota game and while there were a lot of empty seats the place didn't look empty because a lot of seats were filled. You gotta get that number around 40,000, less if possible. Then you're in half capacity range. That will get things noticed.

No offense but you need to examine the math related to lost revenue-per 10K empty seats at Kinnick Stadium. If attendance ever drops to 55K, financial reality will force some changes. The numbers you cited for 99' and 00' were never relevant to KF's job security, as they were his first 2 years on the job.

Just give us your work address and we'll come see you. You can still have the crow bar. Fair enough?

I really don't care either way because I DON'T support Gary Barta. So, if KF leaves or gets fired, Barta is in charge of hiring the new head coach. That's a losing proposition in my opinion. I'm content to keep my money and bide my time until Gary Barta is GONE!
