Correct, it would not stop them from playing somewhere else AFTER this season. I was thinking more along the line of a lower level player who might assume he would not play early in the schedule and thus would have longer to make a decision to leave and finish the season somewhere else (if he could find an open spot). Meaning, that if he played in the first game he could conceivably never play another down for Penn St. and still not be eligible to play midseason at another school. That's taking a chance for sure.
I think we'll see just as many leave after this season as we see leave before this season. With the short time frame, I think a lot of them will take a "wait and see" stance. If the team doesn't perform and the future continues to look bleak (recruiting and such), I could see more leave before spring semester starts.
I guess we'll see.
On another note. I hope the Illini get smacked around on the field by Penn State this year. They deserve it for sending 6 coaches to Not-so-Happy Valley.
I don't see why everyone is so crazy for Akeel Lynch. There are already two freshman running backs and Garmon was ranked more highly than Lynch. If it was an experience back I would be more excited to possibly get him because that is really what they need.
If AIRBHG takes Garmon what do we have? We need depth at RB and talented depth. I for one am not huge on Johnson, and Bullock is pretty decent but the more the merrier imo. Who knows who will be the next victim.
