After a disappointing 4-8 season, Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz's name is being connected to an NFL job yet again.

well, if he's ever going to go, this would probably be his last chance. the fanbase in KC would just go crazy if he was hired, and not in a good way.

I read Jon's write up on this, oh no, he gone. I'm not buying it Jon you are trying to cover up the almost 99% certainty of this happening. You are afraid of the meltdown on this site because how much Ferentz is loved by all the posters on this site.

That said, I'm getting my resume ready. I may have not gotten the OC or DC jobs last season but I am sure Gary Barta was just waiting to bring me in to replace Ferentz.

What in the world are you talking about?

I was pretty clear that I don't think its going to happen.

Why would I be worried about the reaction on the message boards? People are free to post what they want as long as they do so within stated rules.

Quite frankly, the busiest message boards ever get is during coaching searches.

Jon, I think this move would be in the best interest for Iowa football. The fans are becoming worried and I think it is only a matter of time before season ticket sales fall especially if Iowa has a mediocre football season.

There are similarities here to Hayden's last few years as what is going on at Iowa under Ferentz the last couple. On the field results, off the field, Iowa under Ferentz has been a "who is going to transfer, or get arrested" since he has been there, kind of like a former basketball coach the fans didn't cry over when he left.

Also, it give Iowa the opportunity to hire a guy like Bob Diaco, who could have an effect like Fitzgerald coaching at his alma mater, but Iowa traditionally is far better than Northwester, so it may be an even better move.

I didn't see it but on Twitter it's going around that Peter King on Football Night in America said Kirk is not going to KC. Not sure if speculation or he actually spoke with somebody.

I'm sure as soon as the rumor hit Barta's ear he got out his feathered pen and parchment paper and wrote out a new contract giving Kirk an extra 2 mil a year. Expect it to be announced soon.
