Fair catches inside the 10

Agreed, no coach would have that guy back there he's scared to catch and run. He fair catches even when nobody is around.

All I can say people is we are exceptional at fair catches insude the 10.... I mean, we have to be leading the nation in that category....:(

Let's think about this: why is the punt team in a position to constantly decide to catch a punt st the 8 yard line?

Because we are usually punting from our 10, and teams are starting at our 40. It's been that way for about 6 of the last 8 quarters. It feels like the only time we start with better field position is when fielding a kickoff after the other team scores.

35 yards of rushing. I can't get over that.

35 yards rushing and 2 turnovers. Ugh.

Agree totally. I'm guessing that Wadley's ankle or another body part is bugging him more than Iowa is letting on, because he didn't play very well at all today.

What ever happened to the old coaching point, "put your heels on the 10 and don't back up"?

That is or was the coaching point but now so many teams have such fast guys going downfield and downing the ball at the 1 or 2 yard line. I dont mind the fair catch at the 9 or 8 yard line taking one or so steps backwards from the 10.

Our problem is our very inconsistent offense that cant run wide, not run very good, nor get receivers open enough.

I dont remember seeing one 15 to 20 yard post pattern today which is a staple route of the pro style offense.

Teams stack the box because they know the run is coming and they play man on the outside because they know our QB can't hit the deep throw. The middle should be open but we never throw the slant routes. I don't think Wadley is banged up he is just not built to run into a wall and move the pile.

i dont know why late in a game we use a defensive back to return punts. Just think we should try a punt return specialist? Last return was a joke. Returned a sure touchback and ran valuable time off the clock, then fair caught a punt he had a chance to run back.

You might have to go back to MV. I am not sure if you can continue to watch JJ learn on the job.

KF talks about needing to do a better job at winning the field position battle. Here's my suggestion...get MV to catch punts and get a new punter. There has to be somebody on our UI soccer team that can kick it farther than 29 yards each time.
