Auburn started a new quarterback, Hank Brown, vs New Mexico this previous weekend. He had a good first start and showed the ability to build on the start and...

Just looking at Brown highlights and I can easily see what Tim sees in him. His ability to get the ball OUT QUICKLY. Most really good QB need to be quick thinkers, have an accurate arm, and good speed. He checks all the boxes. Keep in mind he was just a freshman so plenty of potential for growth. Sully will be familiar with Tim's playbook and should do even better next year............. It would help if we pick up one or two speedsters in the portal for Brown and Sully to throw to.
Now regarding the article Rob shared. I like it for the most part, but the conference is a whole new monster with everyone competing against everyone. No more weak West for Iowa to feast off of by dining in an inferior division. UCLA was the weakest of the four teams from the PAC-10 to move over to the B1G and they beat us. So that's not good.
Sully and Brown better be on their game next year and be able to carry the team because the Defense struggled this year and are losing key players. Also, a team lacking on offense for several years is going to miss their All-American running back "OUCH B1G TIME"
I know I have predicted that next season may be KIrk's last year at Iowa. He gets to set the record for winningest Big Ten Coach of the year and Iowa may struggle to see seven wins. If less than that seven more and more fans will start to think his time has come.
If the West division was the same as it's been since the formation of two divisions then Rob I would agree with you. There would be a good chance of competing and possibly winning out against the old WEST teams.
We can't play in the past however, and the Conference has changed with the resurgence of Penn State, the addition of the four PAC-Ten teams and of course the same ole mighty Ohio State. If the Michigan coach struggles next year, he better have his resume ready. The taste of National Championship and repeat Big Ten titles is still fresh in their mouths and once a fan base has that kind of success for a couple of years, eating leftover simply won't do.
The Kirk way against Missouri came back to bite us in the ass when not gambling and punting that ball away on 4 and 2 with so little of time left in the game. That conservative approach may not work any more in the new conference.
