ESPNU Top 100 SF Tyler Harris Down to 4 (Iowa is one)

i hope Fran's willingness to leave the east coast, national TV coverage, and immediate playing time are enough to convince him to leave NY.

a class of Larkin, Oglesby, Harris, and a big (De La Rosa? Katenda?) would be great.

Does anyone have any info on Larkin or De La Rosa ? I checked the Scout site and didn't see them mentioned with Iowa.

Lavin at St Johns already has two 2011 small forward commits, both higher ranked than Harris,so I have to wonder if Lavin can get Harris to become a 3rd recruit at the same position....

Keno at Providence, or NCSt...Fran has to use the BTN and the power of the Big Ten as a lure...sell it,Fran!!

Lavin is flat out getting it done at St. John's. They struck gold with that hire.

Saw on the HR free boards that he is visiting this weekend(unconfirmed) and Ross Travis is visiting next weekend(PSU, and confirmed by Tom K.)

As much as I like what Fran is doing I have always questioned why we didn't hire Lavin. He is a household name and can recruit....which is exactly what a rebuilding team needs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Fran and think in the long run we are going to be better of rebuilding our program on bedrock (Fran) rather than a house of cards (Hair), I just think that St Johns will get to the top faster.

I think Lavin is a good fit for St Johns as his wife is an actress and he can woo local kids with his smooth talking ways. Not so sure he would have wanted the Iowa job far away from her potential opportunities.

I think we got the same east coast wise guy type in Fran, without the baggage. Now, he is not a household name like Lavin, but might be a better coach. Lavin had tons of talent at UCLA...but ended up getting fired for lack of advancing in the tourny. The stories were that his players joked about how well they did with no coach....who knows?

Not too mention St. John's i think would be easier to recruit to. Closer to Philly, NYC, etc. Heck they play in MSG.
