ESPN has already started their campaign

Good point. That loss in September at LSU is definitely worse than the epic win OSU just had.

Is that the same LSU that needed to score in the last seconds to beat one of the very worst teams in the country this past weekend? Auburn needed a fluke tipped pass on the last play of the game to beat an average Georgia team. They needed a major league brain fart by Saban and a bunch of missed field goals to escape yesterday.
Auburn is lucky as hell to not have 3 losses.
OSU had a close game on the road against their bitter rival. Michigan played out of their minds. Their qb had the game of his life. He has never played like that before and probably will not again. Last time I checked, a close win still counts.
To hell with the SEC and their smarmy crap..

So you think Northern Illinois should have a shot at the title game as well? Strength of schedule should matter.....which is why an 8 team playoff is needed.
Won't matter..the ******** will just turn who got screwed out of the playoff. SEC will dominate that format also.

It's amazing what ranking every team in a conference a few spots higher than they deserve can do. If a team should be ranked 30th rank them 25th. If a team should be 25th rank them 20th. It can really make it look like teams are playing a gauntlet of a schedule when in reality its not much different than any other team.

Auburn has one loss but its to a ranked team. If LSU was out of the top 25 like they probably deserve to be could anyone really justify putting auburn in the NC?

It's pretty impressive that they've won so many championships in a row but a couple of those games could have gone either way. It's impossible for other conferences to even have a chance to go on a streak like that because they don't get an automatic bid into the game like the SEC does.

So I guess Alabama should play the winner of the SEC championship game in the BCS Championship then. Unless you can show me how FSU has any better wins than OSU. The only teams with a pulse they beat are Clemson and Miami.

This is exactly why I wanted Auburn to win yesterday. I wanted to hear all the SEC crying begin. And this scenario is exactly why I think college football is a joke. Winning is why you play sports. Period. That's it. There is nothing more to a season other than winning. In every other sport, winning is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing. It doesn't matter where, when, how, by how much. There is a regular season. You win, you make the playoffs or the tournament. You have an entire postseason to prove your worth again. This is what a sport is. Why is that so hard for college football to wrap their minds around. I think this is hilarious. College football is a VIP club. No other sport is treated like a campaign, a pageant, an election. You prove what you need to prove during the regular season. You earn a spot in the postseason. Then you earn your title. College football is the only sport where you can 'claim' a title. What a joke. Okay, I'm done.

Just curious do you think:

If Ohio State played Auburn's schedule would they be 12-0 or 11-1?

It doesn't matter, you can't know what they would be. Vice Versa, you don't know what Auburn would be playing OSU schedule in the cold midwest in Nov.

Luckily, the Big Ten will become more competitive in football with their next expansion.

Oh wait. The Big Ten is too concerned with making craploads of money to give a damn about it's football product.

Lol. Please explain how a broadcast network (ESPN/NBC) with a broadcast contract for the B10 has a financial incentive for the SEC (who is carried by a rival network) to be good. I'll hang up and listen.

This is how.
SEC Network - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ESPN has a much higher financial interest in the SEC than they do in a handful of B10 games. It all comes down to one thing: ratings. It's not that difficult to figure out why ESPN wants an SEC team in the CG. I'll anxiously await your call back. Rival network...

For those of you *against* a playoff, and for the cruddy BCS, how's that Edsel running?

If in doubt, read my tag line.

That is all.

It doesn't matter, you can't know what they would be. Vice Versa, you don't know what Auburn would be playing OSU schedule in the cold midwest in Nov.

Obviously it doesn't matter, I'm just curious what people think OSU record would be. IMO they would 9-3 or 10-if they played that schedule.

What on earth are you talking about? You honestly think a national championship team wouldn't garner higher ratings? This isn't rocket science here.

You must be confused. The propaganda train is at full steam ahead at ESPN. They want the SEC to be as popular as ever in 2014 and touting 7 straight national championships is just the way to do it. They have been singing this tune ever since the network deal was made. All objectivity from that network went out the window. The better the public thinks the SEC is, the higher ratings they will get.

Explain this to me. The SEC is supposed to be so difficult and invincible that a couple of middle of the road Big 12 teams can join the conference and have major success almost immediately.

I find it hard to believe that Missouri is really NC quality material. Can they really beat the best two teams from the PAC, ACC, Big 12 and B1G. I am taking Missouri against Duke and that is about it.

Part of the issue is there are so few marquee match-ups between all of the BCS conferences that how can you really establish strength of schedule? A premise is then made to start the year on which conference is the strongest. The SEC then gets a team in the title game no matter what. Then the real issue is determining who is #2 out the remaining conferences. That has allowed the SEC to thrive as bowl season often provides some surprises on which conferences and teams are legit when the true head-to-head match-ups take place.

I am going to throw up if Missouri makes it into the title game.

I hope Mizzou wins and OSU loses because the Big Ten sucks and FSU will beat Mizzou easily. That is the only way the SEC gets knocked off.

I agree that OSU might not be what we think of as a dominant NC contender but I will take OSU against Mizzou any day of the week. I just think there is so much more parity around the nation than what we are led to believe by the SEC and ESPN. It is simply good business to pump themselves up and downgrade everyone else.

I will throw this out for any takers to look at the strength of schedule argument....

List the best non-conference victory or victories by each BCS conference over another BCS conference.
