ESPN experts split on Iowa-Wake

O’Neil: Wake Forest -- Because as bad as the Demon Deacons have looked early, the Hawkeyes have looked worse.

I guess he didnt see the 111 point score. I Know it was siu-e but still its pretty impressive.

Well, technically, 5 picked Iowa and 4 picked Wake.

I see this as a toss up, hope Iowa can get one on the road here.

I think you're right, Stormin. It's a tossup. Wake isn't very good, but has the home court advantage. I think this will be a good game.

Lack of PG depth could hurt, especially if Cartwright is having an off-night. Didn't he have some less than stellar games early on? (I could be wrong, I didn't get to see some of the early games.)

I wonder if any of these experts have watched any of the Iowa or Wake games other than just looking at final scores. I'm sure they spend their time evaluating teams that are relevant so I'm not going to put much value into their opinion.

There's only one ESPN expert I trust for picks and that is Dick Vitale. Pick Duke to win every game and be right 80% of the time. brilliant stuff.

That's funny because I think most of the talking heads on the Big Ten Network are conceding this one to the ACC.

Brennan: Iowa -- Because as bad as Iowa is, Wake Forest is -- somehow -- worse.

If these quotes don't get you pumped for this game, I don't know what will!

There are some high school teams that could probably beat SIU. I expect Iowa to win this one though.

My favorite:

Not because we have looked great, but how many Iowa bball games has this talking head watched this season?

Losing to Winthrop and Stetson at home are bad bad bad losses. Both are 230+ Pomeroy teams.

Iowa's loss was at home to a solid South Dakota St team with a current Pomeroy of 133. The other bad loss for Iowa is LBS, who has a Pomeroy of 107, a game Iowa was up 12 at one point.

Again Pomeroy is slanted right now so early in the season, but it's something to talk about at least.

Im not condoning the losses by Iowa, but I don't know how anyone could say Iowa has looked worse this year. Wake has 3 home losses to 3 mid-majors already.

Agree...Wake is worse than Iowa based off what I have watched.

I only listen to Dick Vitale also. Just like I only listen to Lou Holtz for football. Show me his opinion and it will mean something to me.

"For what it’s worth, the group consensus for each game adds up to a 6-5 Big Ten victory over the ACC. But it’s actually even closer than that. In the highly anticipated Iowa-Wake Forest matchup, our panel took the Hawkeyes by a 5-4 margin. If one of those five had picked the Deacons, we’d be projected an ACC overall victory."

Wow, so mean!

Big Ten won't win this challenge this year....Minnesota lost to hapless Virginia at home. Way to go Tubby...go to firetubbysmith.com for more information.
