Jay Williams said the game on Saturday against Northwestern could essentially be a play-in game to the NCAA Tournament.

Again, not sure I agree, but that's pretty cool to hear.
 
They were fumbling their words the whole time. Pretty funny. Pretty sure Bardo said we had a game against Penn St coming up. lol

But nice to see/hear/feel that we are on the radar!
 
FWIW...last year Penn State went 16-13 and 9-9 in conference and got in. Not sure what kind of schedule they had though.

Yeah, but they got to the BTT champ game to get to 19-14. That's a big difference.

Win out, Iowa is 18-13. I think they need 1 in BTT to get on that bubble. 2 prob gets them in.

But that's a lot of things that have to go right for Iowa.

Only one thing has to go right for Iowa. Winning the game they are playing. The next 3 and likely 4 will all be winnable. But they need only to be concentrating on Illinois.

Can Franny Mac and Matty Fresh buckle down and get this team concentrating one game at a time? That's the key question.

The top 25 wins are there. The conference and overall wins need to follow.
 
Bardo cited the miracle Minny run of 3 years ago. They made the BTT Final,and squeezed in. Lets beat the Illini and keep it going!
 
Weren't posters on this very forum talking about how bad Iowa was just, like, two weeks ago? Or was it two days ago? I can't remember anymore with fanatics jumping from "The Ledge" to Cloud 9 faster than McCabe gets whistled for a foul.

In all probability, Iowa won't make the dance, but the fact that they even talked about Iowa in a positive way on College Basketball Live is huge. All it means is that, even with Lickliter's players, McCaffery has this program headed back in the right direction. Simple as that. It's been a good, productive season no matter how it ends. Making the tournament this year would be a wet dream; making it next year will be a goal.
 
I hate the fact that people are steering our expectations so high. Do you all realize just how big of an accomplishment it would be just to get this team into the NIT? I really hope they do not raise our expectations up for disappointment. I just want to see this team playing in a post season tournament, any tournament.
 
There couldn't be a better time to get hot. Too bad we lost to Nebraska and PSU, those two wins would have really set Iowa up.

We just have to go to Illannoy and win and that is not going to be easy. Hopefully, the guys just want to win more than the other team now! A win at Illannoy could be a harbinger of things to come. Been a long long time since we have beaten them there...

I hate the fact that people can't get excited about a team and really, really want them to make the NCAA. I want to be disappointed when they lose, and excited when they beat Wisconsin, because that means I care about Iowa BB again. I want to hope they can win the last 3 and make the dance, because that glimmer of hope is good. That doesn't mean I will think any less of this team and their overall season if they don't make it. Rather it just means that I am excited about the possibilities that they could make it.

I think this guy sums up my feelings on making the NCAA, even if it is the slightest of chances.....

Drake has a higher RPI than Iowa. That is all.

edit: South Carolina-Upstate has a higher RPI than Iowa. Lets all take a deep breathe and, just like the NCAA selection committee, look at the entire body of work.
